Looking forward to breakfast!

I am having breakfast with my oldest son this morning - and maybe his wife - and maybe his youngest son.  I always look forward to spending time with him and over breakfast satisfies us both!  Hubby is disappointed he wasn't included - but this all started because I had put a note in the three children's stockings that I wanted 1:1 time with each one of them once a quarter.  That's all I asked.  Go for a coffee or a coke; go for a walk; just let me spend some time with you.

My youngest son did it once or twice, I think - but I have fallen by the wayside with his many years of troubled times.  He STILL could make time for me... but well, won't go there.  All I can do is pray for him.

My oldest son remembers and I could probably say we do meet up at least once a quarter - and sometimes more.  I love it when he stops by just for a short visit.  And I love it when I get to meet him for breakfast (like this morning), or for lunch or dinner.  I get what I ask for; time with him, and sometimes a bonus of getting to be with his family too.  I always look forward to these times of memories.   Yeah, this morning I get to meet for breakfast and it's at a place I haven't gone to before - so that's a real treat.  He did give me a choice but thought I'd try something new.  Hubby is disappointed he isn't included, but we don't always leave him out.... sometimes a mama just needs to have time with her boy.  Besides, he goes out to breakfast usually 3 x a week now.  He keeps asking 'what did I do that makes him not want to spend time with me too?' and I just tell him sometimes a mama and her boy need that time.

Last night we had a surprise.... well, we let it be a surprise to the hubby.  Daughter invited us over for dinner and I asked questions so knew... but hubby didn't.  He only knew we were going for dinner.  But shortly after we arrived, our grandson came in.  Yep, he flew in for a friends' wedding and will be heading back out on Sunday.  We probably won't see him again until Christmas, when he will be coming back with his wife for the holiday.  Because hubby didn't really look up when he walked in, he didn't recognize who it was, and he commented about it ... but I believe it is just because he didn't raise his head to look at his face.  I recognized the voice too as he came in the door, but apparently hubby didn't hear or recognize.  Just another quirk that makes us sometimes nervous.

And, I'm finding that when he isn't sure about things, he gets more stubborn about it.  Like directions. He tells me how he is going to go somewhere. Not that I care which direction we go, just that we get there.  Like last night, he says, instead of the usual way we go - I'm going to go Bell to 59th Ave to Northern.  Ok.  I commented that sometimes it's easier to get out of the Bell traffic and just take 75th down to Grand and over... or take Cactus or Olive..... and oh my... he turned on 75th and made the decision he would turn at Cactus and nothing could change his mind.  Not that I tried. But it was the tone and way he stated that was the way we were going - same with coming home.  He told me how he was going to come back home.  It's like it is confirmation in his mind he is going the right way?   We haven't really discussed directions until these past few months.... could he be forgetting how to get places and just needs to reaffirm he knows?  Yeah, it can get scary.  And I'm trying to be patient with him.

My granddaughter (daughter of my oldest son) sent me a sweet text last night.  It warmed my heart.  I don't get to see her often and hope to get back down to see them since it is getting cooler, but it may be doubtful as hubby isn't inclined to let me drive at times.  Anyway - she text'd me that every time she goes to a fabric shop she remembers the times she and I would go looking for fabric and that I taught her to hand sew.  That was when I learned how to make 'cheater's quilts' and stitched them all by hand. I have made one for each of my grandchildren, and most of the great-grandchildren.  I know of one that got destroyed when bleach, I think it was, got on it.  If I ever see Nemo material again... now that could be a good surprise for Christmas for him!  I'll have to make an effort to find Nemo material. He may be embarrassed, but Nemo was his favorite when I made his quilt!

I've been looking at material lately with the thoughts of wanting to make quilts again - but my fingers start to hurt after awhile.  I can't wear many of my rings anymore because my knuckles have enlarged with the arthritis in my fingers.  I get by with a small band on my ring finger so taht hubby is happy. Heaven forbid someone would think I was single!!  LOL

And, I'm running out of time this morning with all my rambling.  I need to stop and start getting presentable to meet my son for breakfast.  I'm sure he wouldn't want me arriving in my jammies and barefoot!  Sure hope they have good coffee there.  He mentioned they have great food... but he didn't mentiont he coffee.  Guess I will find out!

Hope that you have an amazing day - tomorrow is Jailbreak Getaway after church - I am getting so excited!  Guess I'll start my packing when I get back home.  YAYYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!   And yes, I'm taking my computer.

Blessings!
