We both took a short nap of about 30 minutes in the afternoon, so I was feeling pretty good. It must be the age difference as we were only a couple episodes in to the movie when he fell asleep. I tried a couple times to awaken him cause the movie was good.... but to no avail. Yes, I could have just continued watching the episodes, but felt he'd fuss later because he didn't see them... so after a full episode of him not watching, I turned it off (about 9PM) and woke him to go to bed.
I went to bed a bit irritated at him because he went to sleep and I felt the need to turn off something I was watching and enjoying. In reality, it was 9PM and I did need to get to bed myself, but I really, really, did want to continue watching. But I knew how hard it would be to get up this morning. And I was right. But in another sense. I was irritated with him; I kept replaying that last episode in my mind (which is why I can't watch an intense movie before going to bed!); and therefore, I didn't sleep that well. I woke up at 3:30AM; decided I had at least another half hour. Turned off my alarm. Got up about 4:15AM. Came in here and tried to go back to sleep, until I heard hubby get up about 4:30AM.... tried to read; received my coffee from hubby; and did go back to sleep for a little bit. I'm awake, but reluctantly.
But on a positive note - I have a 4 day work week as we leave on vacation on Friday! Whoo hoo! I'm looking forward to not working ... and it shouldn't be a problem for my cover. My favorite boss is flying to Colorado and will be there most of the next week, and my other boss is taking a vacation and only working two days remote then taking the other three days off the following week. My cover shouldn't have too much to do.
Jailbreak Getaway has been scheduled for September for a few days and now I have something else to look forward to. We plan to do the train ride out of Verde Valley; it's been years since hubby and I did it. Looking forward to that now as well. We have the airbnb reserved and we're ready to go.
Going back to the movie, and that last episode that I watched. There were a couple stories in it that I know well from reading my Bible. One that starts it is when Jarius' daughter got sick and he went to Jesus to ask Him to come heal her. Enroute to his house.... the women who was bleeding for 12 years... touched Jesus. In my mind, and in my own understanding of what she was going through... I get it. I understand why she did what she did. Even that was a story within a story as Eden, Peter's wife, had befriended her. The woman heard about Jesus, and she began to have hope that He could heal her. She went to town where the crowd was pushing against Jesus. She felt the blood starting to flow and she is 'praying' "Please no, not now".... and a man recognized her and started yelling 'Unclean! Unclean! This woman is unclean!' and she is begging him to stop .... and in a moment of desperation, when she is to stay away from people and not touch anyone.... she pushes through the crowd and losing her balance, starts to fall... and as she does, she reaches out and touches the tassel of Jesus' garment.
Jesus stopped. "Who touched me?" He asks. No one responds. Of course Jesus knows, especially since the woman is still huddled on the ground where she fell. "Who touched me?" The disciples tell Him that everyone is pressing up against Him and He's asking 'Who touched me?".... and Jesus tells them that He felt power go out from Him. He's looking around, and looks down at the woman, and she looks up and confesses it was her. He called her "Daughter".... and she cried. It has been many years since someone had spoken kindly to her, let alone hearing the word 'daughter'. He explained to her that it wasn't His garment that had healed her; it was her faith.
That scene always gets me. Why? Because, not for reason the woman had, but there have been, and probably will continue to be, many times that I fall down on my knees and cry out to Jesus, that I could just touch the hem of His garment, and my pain in life would go away. That when I've had a bad headache, I could reach out to Him and know that the severe pain would disappear. That when the pain in my heart hurts so bad.... I can reach out and touch the hem of His garment and the pain would not hurt so badly and I could know He would walk me through the fire I was going through.
And it's not only women who need to 'run' to Jesus in times of affliction and touch the hem of His garment. Sometimes it is men too. Afflictions can happen to anyone. But we have One who can bring peace and healing to our souls during those times, when we fall down and call out to Him, just reaching out to touch the hem of His garment. It doesn't matter what the pain is caused from; Jesus is always there for us to reach out to ....
What is going on within you that you need to reach out and touch the hem of Jesus' garment and receive healing? Financial issues? Health issues? Relationship issues? Jesus can help you in all that. There is nothing that He cannot bring peace and healing to. And all it takes is for you to reach out...
..... and touch the hem of His robe. Reach out... and receive....
Blessings!
