I, for once, knew my direction

Hubby and I had a slight disagreement yesterday on the direction I was heading for dinner.  We were meeting up with the oldest son and some of his family for dinner at Olive Garden near where they lived. My son had told me (specifically) where we were going to meet.  I drove last night (thank goodness) and was trying to include hubby in the process.  Shall I go down 59th Ave to Peoria or 51st Ave?  His response?  "I don't know why you would go that way, it's the Olive Garden at Bell and the freeway."  I explained, no, it wasn't, it was at the freeway and Peoria.  He disagreed, and I again told him the METRO location.  He insisted that METRO was at the freeway and Bell Rd.  Now mind you, when he described the location - there is a QT, there is Cane's and then there is Olive Garden - I knew he knew where we were to go - but he got his roads messed up.  I continued on the drive while he was telling me I was wrong - and betting me $2 that he was right.  Ok, so I have been directional challenged in the past, and am sometimes now, but I do try to pay attention more than I did back then.

We continued down 51st Avenue to Peoria, he told me I was going the wrong way.  I got to Peoria and turned left and headed on down to Olive Garden.  As QT came into view, I pointed out that he was right, there was a QT, there was Cane's, and then there was Olive Garden. He finally just said "I guess I owe you $2."  Yes he does.   I get it that one can become confused with directions - I am frequently.  But, it is times like these that scare me somewhat.  At least when he is out driving, it is a routine trip.  Same doctor for the past 40 years - although Dr Mark has moved to a new location, hubby has been there a few times.  Same location for Bible study on Tuesday nights and also on Friday mornings.  He is letting me drive more often when we go somewhere, and I do have GPS window in my car that we can follow if necessary.

We did have a good time with the son and his family.  Loved getting to hold our newest great-granddaughter and love on her a bit.  Thank you, son, for including us.

It's back to Monday after a lazy and restful weekend.  I went to the baby shower on Saturday for a little while, as I have already shared.  Thanks, son, for letting me know it is a boy.  I wondered when I heard a slip comment by the mother-to-be.  The word 'he' was used, but I let it pass by.  I wish I had known when I stopped at the store; I would have bought baby clothes instead of generic things.  Oh well, I know that baby won't want for anything if grandma has anything to say about it.  Three grandchildren for my oldest son. His family is growing!

Sunday we just chilled pretty much.  We watched Jentezen Franklin on YouTube; I fixed breakfast sandwiches for breakfast.  We watched Life.Church on YouTube - so we got a double dose of messages.  We took a short nap.  We read. I crochet'd.  Didn't do much of anything. Then we went to dinner and enjoyed ourselves.  Once back home we read a bit and then headed to bed.  It was a very good day.

Today I'm back at work and my male boss is on PTO.  So much for that.  Sigh. He must have taken his computer with him for I see some emails from him about setting up meetings.  He is probably going to try and stay on top of his emails while gone. They are skiing somewhere in Utah, but I forget where. But at least he is 'gone' this week.

We also need to get on our taxes for we meet with our CPA next week.  I have things laid out here on the bed to total up and go through, but the majority of what I have to give hubby to add to what he has - and really, we don't have that much - I need to go through my credit cards and bank account statements and identify what is claimable and what isn't.  I have tried to 'charge' the majority of our medical so that I can easily identify it and include it.  I can't wait until the 'no tax on social security' is in effect.  I'm sure we will have to pay for last year and that is usually why we have to pay about $1K in taxes every year.  Although I am still working, I started drawing my SS at 66 and hubby of course has been drawing his for awhile.  I don't have a limit on my earnings since I waited until I was of the retirement age to start drawing.

Hubby has started back to the gym this morning and was really looking forward to it.  He was so down for a bit on Friday. His vascular doctor appointment didn't go as well as he thought - as the surgeon through his scans showed yet another aneurysm in his abdomen.  Shortly after he got home he got a call from that surgeon. He had made a mistake. That aneurysm he saw was one he had taken care of (put coils in it) a couple years ago.  He didn't have any new aneurysms and didn't need to have any testing done for another year.  Grateful the doctor called before the weekend to let him know or it could have been a depressing weekend.

Oh my - just noticed the time - I have 5 minutes before work time and I have barely gotten started in here. So today, you are just getting just some ramblings, I'm afraid. Catching you up, perhaps, on my life.  Dull and boring, right?  But I do have special times too, such as dinner with family.

Want to plan a trip south next month.  Will be checking out hotel costs and will make a decision based on that.  I may skip the weekend and just do a couple workdays - take them off work.  Not to bother the granddaughter and family during the day and mess their schedules up, but can see them in the evening, and we can do whatever during the day. Hubby would like that - anytime he can get me off by himself he really likes. Sigh. My life is so boring at times.  But give me a good book and I'm happy. :-)

And with that, I got to get off here and get on the work computer.  Sorry I have rambled so and didn't give you any fodder for today.  Perhaps tomorrow I won't be so wordy and gabby. LOL

Blessings!
