What is this journey I'm on?

Sometimes things happen that make you wonder "What is God thinking!?"  Right?  Usually it is something that is 'off' and you can't figure out why - or perhaps you have already found out the 'what' - and wonder about the 'why'.  I don't know.  I thought about not mentioning this, and it is probably nothing, but ... decided, for what it is worth, I will share it and begin a journey of 'what is it I am to do with this, Lord?' with you. Let me think back to many, many years ago. Again, this is probably nothing at all.... but it does bring pause and causes me to think of the greatness of God and the wonder of human mind.

Many years ago, so many that I don't remember exactly when, I can remember waking up with my hip bone hurting.  We marked it up to bursitis; never did go to the doctor; it always went away once I got up and started moving around.  It finally totally went away and I haven't had it in years.  It has always been my left hip bone because I tend to sleep on my left side.

Speed up to October 2024 when hubby and I were staying in a hotel up in Prescott for a weekend and I was awakened at some time during the night (I probably could go back to a previous post to find the time, but it has no bearing on this discussion) with sharp pin pricks on my left inner thigh, but what woke me up completely was the intense searing pain that shot down from my hip, down my thigh to my knee.  Long story short, as I've mentioned THAT journey numerous times, we 'think' those were scorpion bites because one of the 'traits' is the venom hits the bones.  Well, Urgent Care did nothing but refer me to my dermatologist, whom I saw the next day. As the swelling (it was about 1-2 wks later) had spread about 8" in diameter, he marked it and said if it got worse, go to the ER for an infusion of antibiotics, gave me a second prescription for antibiotics and sent me on my way.  He also told me to never bother with an Urgent Care, they can't do anything; go to the ER for true critical care.  I made several visits to the dermatologist and the swelling and redness started to subside and the pain I felt lessened.  November 2024 I tried to get in to see my PCP as I wanted her to take a look to give me a medical opinion on why I was still having pain.  No availability for several weeks.  Ok, it's the holidays, I'll let it go.

In January 2025, I still have the bites showing on my inner thigh and occasionally get 'pin pricks' and it is still painful.  I call my PCP again, only to be told to 'go to your dermatologist since you have been under his care' because she had no availability for 4 months.  I did go back to the dermatologist as under the skin there was a gray area (in my view) - they finally took a biopsy, which showed nothing, of course. That cost me a couple $100.  And I made the decision in July to change PCPs since I could not get in to see mine.  I went back to Dr. Mark.  He did a complete physical and said that I was in excellent health.  At that time I had been having no pain, other than an occasional pin prick in that general area of my thigh where the bites had been.  But there is nothing showing on the skin, so nothing to base anything off of. I do have photos, but there is nothing there now.

I do not have leg pain or hip pain during the day.  But the other night, I got the pain in the left hip bone and the shooting pain down to the knee as before.  I got up and moved around and all was well.  Last night - or rather, this morning, yes, I was laying on my left side, and I got the searing pain in the hip bone which shot down my entire leg - and my right hip bone started with the pain shooting down.  What in the world?  As it was 4AM and time for me to get up, I went ahead and got up and walked without difficulty.  But even as I have sat here in my chair, although the leg pain is minimal, the left hip bone is still telling me it's sore.  I did upper body exercises last night.  I've been doing 50 squats every day for the past 40+ days, so it isn't exercise.  What could be going on?  No, I'm not going to run to the doctor.  I am not going to be one of those 'old ladies' who run to the doctor with every little thing that hurts.

But I will admit, with my brother in law having severe back pain from multiple myeloma, and knowing that my mother had multiple myeloma (but I don't know the location) that was treated with chemo for six weeks and then it supposedly was 'gone'... has entered my mind.  I refuse to have fear.  If something is wrong in my body, I am trusting God to bring healing and wholeness to it.  He created me in His image, and He is the only One who can heal me, if something is wrong.  I refuse to live in fear and in this moment, unless I begin to have pain at other times than from my laying on my side every night and the hip bone/thigh bone pain increases, I'm only going to pray for healing.

I find it ironic that I am being 'distracted' with my own pain when I have been praying for healing in my children's lives more intensely than ever before, due to their own medical issues.  Hubby's issues were prayed over and God took the chaos of his body and brought healing and peace.  And I am claiming that not only for my children, but for myself.  I am more focused on prayer, more intense in praying.  One, because it is my child(ren) that is affected.  Two, What is going on with me is nothing more than the devil trying to distract me to focus on me.  Too bad, Satan!  I dedicated my children to God many years ago.  I surrendered myself to God Almighty years ago.  Satan, you have no hold on any of us and your power was defeated by Jesus Christ, whom I serve!  Get over it, Satan! Get out of our bodies, out of our lives! Go back to where you belong - in hell!

My God, whom I serve, will sometimes allow us on a journey to draw us closer to Him.  If this is what it takes to get my entire focus upon Him, so be it.  I am surrendered to whatever You desire O Lord.

Romans 11:36 (NIV):  For from Him and through Him and for Him are all things.  To Him be the glory forever! Amen.

The journey that we are on is sometimes not for us, but for those watching us.  Will we grow in the journey to the One who can save us, or do we turn away and blame Him?  Oh that I will always keep my face turned to Jesus, who is the only One who can save me!

On another note, just an FYI, I went to the oral surgeon yesterday for the consult on having the tooth removed..... I agreed I want it done right away; let's get it over with.  I was offered today; this afternoon!  I expected to wait at least a week or two.  I declined today; but did accept to have the surgery Thursday afternoon.  Yes, this week.  My appointment is at 2:30PM.  I love that he will put me to sleep for this surgery.  And, I have already picked up the one tablet of xanax that I am to take one hour before the surgery to keep me calm.  I have the rinse to use for several days after the surgery.  I have the antibiotics to keep any infection away (which should also help with anything else going on in the body, right?), and I will be picking up the Percocet today to offset any pain.  The last two times I went to this surgeon for a tooth removal, I had minimal pain; I'm hoping for the same with this one.

I can work until time to head over to the surgeon's office, which is very close.   No coffee, no food, no water (except for the xanax) for 8 hours before I head over.   I do need to call my dentist office today and cancel my Friday cleaning.  I don't think having a tooth removed on Thursday and going for cleaning on Friday is a very good idea.   I can also work on Friday, cause it will be a light day and if I need to lay down, I do have the bed in here; if I get it cleaned off, that is. I do have one side of it with minimal packages on it.  This weekend I will be decorating - at least get my trees up so that I can wrap these gifts and get them under the trees!

And with all that wonderful boring news, I am getting off here.  I have a few minutes left that I can do some reading and maybe even write in my journal. I've kind of stopped the journal writing since I am writing in here nearly every day.

Which reminds me - tomorrow I probably will NOT be writing.  Just a heads up.  I have a 6:30AM HIIT training at the gym with Morgan, then I will be driving on to meet my boss for breakfast and will be gone until about 11AM.  No time to write and I'm not going to stress out about it.  You survived last Sunday, you can survive tomorrow. :-)    Until then...

Blessings!

Changing my mind on some things

I unpacked the toaster oven yesterday morning and took to the kitchen.  I removed the air fryer and took to the laundry room until I find a place to put it in the garage on the shelving.  I put the toaster oven where the air fryer had been - and it just didn't look right.  But I did like it gave a bit more space on the counter.  Cluttered counters drive me crazy when I'm trying to use them.  Anyway - I decided to fix me a piece of toast in the toaster oven... and it started smoking.  Alarmed, I unplugged it - but that didn't stop it.  Every time I opened the door, smoke would come out.  Confused as to why, I peeked in through the smoke (not a lot, but enough) and discovered I had missed two very small pieces of paper inside the toaster oven that were not on fire, but heated up well.  I removed them, watered them down good, and then put in the trash.  So now we have the smell of smoke in the house.  Good thing hubby wasn't home, right?  Not enough smoke to set off the alarm, but still, it stunk.  So I did what any good wife does.  I found a candle and lit it - and the house began to smell so much better!  I didn't have to tell hubby of my mishap because he never smelled it when he got home.  Not that I'm keeping it from him - if he had noticed and asked, I would have told him.  I just don't have to tell him everything that I do.

Anyway- decided I didn't like the toaster oven there and moved it to the garage.  I put the toaster down in that spot and then the clutter we had of 'morning kick' and 'amino lean' powders and our cups I moved to the cabinet out of the way.  And for now, left it that way.  I told hubby I was thinking of getting a two-slice toaster. He asked why. (we have a four slice toaster now)  Because 1) it is smaller, and 2) we only fix one slice of toast for each of us if we eat together.  Without me cooking his breakfast, he will eat two - but that's all he needs.  No, I haven't purchased it yet.  The four-slice is working right now, although one of the burners is nearly out.  Not sure when I will move ahead on that idea - or move the air fryer back there. It does take up a lot of space as it is the Ninja Foodi.  I only use it for air frying although it has a lot of other buttons on it.

Today is the first Saturday in the month so we have Needles of Hope at 9AM.  I am planning to go, but don't have any blankets to take this month as I did a lot of crocheting for gifts this year.  I gave a Viking afghan to my youngest son, plus a smaller Viking afghan for his granddaughter, plus a Viking blanket for his grandson for Christmas.  I had put a note on it that as long as the grandchildren lived with him, they were Viking fans because he was.  I don't know, maybe it was just me, but it didn't seem to impress him any.  I guess that is one of my crochet fail to please.  I had hoped he would at least laugh at the joke and well, he didn't and put them back in the box and we continued on.   Anyway - I think I mentioned I did get some skeins for Christmas.  One great-granddaughter had picked out colorful ones and I made a small blanket that I can use over my legs.  My adopted daughter in Georgia sent me two skeins of yarn - so I'm crocheting those into a large blanket and will send to her when I get them finished.

I went through the message I have for tomorrow and made some changes on it this morning.  Will be working on it this afternoon and timing myself.  Try to keep it between 20-25 minutes.  We also have communion in the morning so I have to plan for that as well.  Other than that, depending if hubby has the TV on or not - I may try to read again this afternoon.  I finished my first book of 2025 last night and yes, I made sure I marked it 'read' in Goodreads before we went to bed.  I was having trouble staying awake as I was reading it, so when hubby asked about 8:20PM if it was time to go to bed, I said yes.  I did finish the last chapter before I quit for the evening.  I kid you not - we slept until 6AM this morning!  I haven't done that in months!  Two days of work this week wore me out, I guess.

Or it could have been that while hubby was gone yesterday morning that I took down another tree (the big one to go) and put things away from Christmas.  I laugh because he hasn't noticed it yet - he will while I'm gone this morning, I'm sure - but I found out how to remove the slat in the middle of the big table in the living area - and I did it all by myself!.  I took it out and shortened it to give us more room. We rarely use that table expect when we have company over for a meal.  I also hung up a couple pictures above the couch I had forgotten about - and took the big one down.  I was busy while hubby was gone yesterday - and working as well!  Even got the minutes done from the November meeting yesterday!  Whoo hoo!

I realized yesterday.... sigh.  I try to remember to write down everything that I buy for people for Christmas.  Now I know why I bought so many hoodies.  I had written down on a couple people that we had given them a hoodie....when these couple people only had one gift when others had two or three, I was confused as to why... so yesterday I glanced at my list....and at least the two I looked at I had listed they had gotten a hoodie as well - well, guess what.  They didn't get but a t-shirt.   I seem to have written down what I wanted to give them, but when the hoodie arrived, I forgot to wrap it up for them!  So I thought I had an over-excess of hoodies, when those I had bought them for - didn't get them.  I told you that in December I spaced out.  (I realize now that I was just burned out mentally with work and that stress, as well as trying to bake/can and shop for others).  I will be dropping off a hoodie at some point for a couple people in the next few days.  I felt so bad when I saw they didn't have things to unwrap (not that a hoodie is any great thing), but I at least did have a gift for them - it just didn't make it to them.  I'm not going to worry about others; they did get more than one gift, but these two I noticed they only got one and I felt bad.

Luke 11:13 (NIV):  If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?

Our Heavenly Father longs to give us so many good gifts - and all we need to do is ask.  I know my youngest son and his family saw the hand of God in answer to prayers this weekend.  What seemed to be a tragic thing, was cancelled and didn't happen.  We need to be praying for God's will in all things; not just what we want, but that He will rule and reign in every situation.  We need to believe that He is in control of every situation.  It's hard, sometimes, to believe - I get it!  But we must!

My left eye had a 'spell' this morning and everything was going dark.  I prayed in faith that God would remove that darkness from the eye - and within seconds, it was totally gone.  Praise God!

And with that, I'm getting off here to get ready for Needles of Hope - got to leave soon.  Have an amazing day!

Blessings!
