We have another nest!

5/14.....I was walking out front this morning and mama and papa quail were running all over the place.  I had seen before a quail jump out of the large pot next to the house - the one with the aloe vera plant in it - but when I peeked in, could not see anything.  I looked this time and saw about another dozen eggs!  A couple have cracked open - and I saw a little one running around with mom and dad.  As I peered into the pot, I saw the back of one baby... and since it is about 8-10 inches to the top of the pot, I tried to reach in and pick up the little one to set it outside - but it dug deeper into the maze of stalks of the aloe vera plant.  I can't even see it now.  I will leave it alone for awhile and will check later to see if mama is egg sitting or if the little ones have hatched and made it out.  Stay tuned....

5/15... Yes, I typed the above yesterday because I didn't want to forget to tell you about it.  And now I'm concerned.  Mama and Papa quail have not returned to the pot, and I have not heard them out there this morning.  Because one 'child' was able to jump out.... are they leaving the remaining eggs that have not hatched?  There was one baby that buried itself inside the maze of the aloe vera and now I cannot even see/find it.  I haven't touched the eggs.... but I just went out to see if mama was sitting on the eggs.... and she is not.  I heard someone else say that it happened to them... and when only a few of the quail jumped out ... mama and papa took off and left the others.  I don't want to touch the eggs, should they come back, but I am uncertain whether to just leave them alone and let nature take its course.... will the eggs hatch without mama sitting on them?  These things I do not know.  Any suggestions?  If I think of it when I'm on the work computer, I'll google what to do when mama and papa desert their eggs.  Now mind you, they haven't hatched yet... but are still in the eggs.

Hubby has gone to his Bible study and I nearly forgot to write in here - again!  I go through my usual routine, check my son's blog, check the bank account, check emails, and then I usually come back to this.  Yesterday and today I turned off the computer and walked away before I remembered.  What is up with that?  And I've been taking something to help me remember things.  Is it having an opposite effect?

Work is there for me to do today - minutes still, of course - but I did get the powerpoint deck finished for the Monday prep meeting.  Did I ever tell you how much I dislike doing board meetings?  And it really isn't that hard!  I love to sit in and listen.  I just don't want to be responsible for anything.  Right?

I don't think I like my new scale much.  When I first used it a few days ago it said my estimated age was 68.  And since I'm 76, nearly 77 really quick here, I was happy about that.  The last two days I've weighed it has decided I have the body of an 81 year old.  Yeah.... if that don't change soon, I may return the scale to the company!  Just kidding.  My goal is to get it below even 68!  Which means I need to quit eating the chips and ice cream and start eating more healthy, and exercise more. Oh, and my scale says I should weight 118 pounds.  That won't happen, I assure you!

I thought about exercising last night while hubby was gone.  I really did.  I thought about it.  But I read instead. :-)  My favorite pasttime.  Well, I did work a bit on the diamond art project too.  But I did read more.  So no exercise  last night.  I need to make myself just do it, right?  30 minutes is nothing. Right?

I sat here this morning and thought about my clutter again.  I have a partial stack of t-shirts sitting on the floor of my closet, along with all my shoes scattered all over.... cause I didn't put them back on the rack....  and I want to go through my t-shirts again and get them taken over to my DIL to give away at the rehab center.  I know I can go through my dresses and pass them off to a senior citizen's home.  In fact my company owns one not far from us and they often have parties where the seniors living there dress up and dance and have fun.  Most have families who dropped them off and left them there. They have few clothes, so donations to care centers are usually always welcomed.  Some day, when I can get this weight off, I will let go of my dresses.  Most are what I wore back in 2019 and 2020 before I was sent home to work.  And yes, I'm still wearing them to church!  I may be 76... and wearing dresses that are too young for me... but hey - I was younger when I bought them and thinner too!  I refuse to 'dress my age'!!

After all, Morgan tells me all the time that "age is just a number".  And I believe her.

I just don't have much to talk about today... can't even think of a scripture to throw on here and talk about. It IS Friday, after all, and perhaps my brain is still resting?  I mean, I had to think all week... oh yeah, I need to think at least one more day, right?

We're having dinner tomorrow night with hubby's bible study partner and his wife.  Going to PoPo's for Mexican food.  Sunday night we are going to dinner with Pastor Josh and his wife at Texas Roadhouse.  Then Monday night we are having dinner with our friends Mike and Linda - probably at Cheddars.  We will be eating out for three nights in a row!!  Maybe I need to look at menus now so that I can figure out what to have that isn't laden with calories.  Just saying.  But we know just about all Mexican food is laden with calories, don't we!  Well, I don't think the tacos we had last Friday were bad choices.  They weren't fried shells, right?  And there were so good.

Well, I need to jump off here, get dressed and get on the work computer.  Hope that you have an amazing day and ... be kind to someone.  You know know how their life is going.

Blessings!
