I got cancelled last night...

and that was ok.  We didn't do our 'girls night out' as we usually do on Tuesday evenings.  I did get my hair trimmed, grabbed a double chicken avocado salad from El Pollo Loco which is right by the hair salon, and headed home.  I put on a good 'chick flick' from Up Faith and Family and sat back to eat my salad.  Finishing that, I continued on a baby blanket I was working on - and when the movie was over I turned the TV off and just sat in silence - and enjoyed it.  Until hubby got home.  Listened to him as I finished up the baby blanket.  Sitting there yawning, I decided it was bedtime.  He wasn't ready to go to bed so I encouraged him to stay up and off I went!  Slept until 11:30PM and then was wide awake for some time.  All kinds of thoughts - and prayers - went through my mind.  I had a conversation with God as to 'why am I awake? what do you want from me?' - and finally I drifted off to sleep.  Now this morning I cannot keep my eyes open and frequently close them for 10 minutes or so at a time!

But alas, could not NOT write in here this morning so I am staying awake this final hour before I start work so that I can.  Aren't you a lucky one?  HAH!

Hubby has a short workout session this morning and then brunch with a friend, so I will be alone for a little while - which is no big deal as I am buried in work after yesterday.  Already have a meeting I have to attend this morning - or rather, a call.  I needed to change payroll codes on two people yesterday and got no information from one of my bosses on what code - so I took a gander at it - and was wrong - and tried to fix it... but then get an email from my buddy in finance who is going to call me this morning to help figure out how to fix it the right way.  Daggone it, I've never had to do it before; send the request to someone who has!  Hopefully it will be an easy fix as I have lots to get done today.

My favorite boss has taken some time off and is flying back east today fort the weekend so won't be back until Tuesday.  She even left me some things to do!  I signed up at work yesterday to be a 'wellness champion'.... I guess that means I need to really focus on staying healthy, huh!  I haven't heard they 'accepted' me yet - but it should be fun.  It only requires one meeting a month and spending perhaps 30 minutes a month encouraging others to get out and walk, get out and do things, get up and move, eat better, etc.  If I was in the office it would be a simple thing, but being remote the past 4 years (well, at least 3; it just seems like 4), I don't know many people anymore.  But - it should be fun and I hope I can succeed in doing well on it.  I saw our CFO is one of the 'champions' and I have never heard from her as to healthy stuff so perhaps much isn't required.  I know she runs - every single day.  She has RAN the One America 500 Festival Mini Marathon (13.1 miles - yes, the one I have WALKED three times) for the past two-three years.  She runs the big marathons (i.e., the Chicago Marathon last weekend which is 26.2 miles) - and her goal is to do every marathon offered in every state over the next few years.  Now THAT is a runner!  And she is in her 50's I'd guess - and definitely in shape, for sure!  I will cheer her every time without feeling guilty - I do what I can.

Psalm 62:1 (NKJV):  "Truly my soul silently waits for God; from Him comes my salvation."

Have you ever intentionally just sat silent and listened to the sounds around you?  In the 'chick flick' last night this resort owner took his guest out in to the woods and had her sit and just listen to the sounds around them - a great horned owl, the birds, a coyote in the distance... I enjoy even sitting outside when there isn't a lot of traffic and just listen to the sounds around me.  Unfortunately, the busyness of the day prevents it from happening often, but in the early morning, one can enjoy the quietness and the stillness, before anyone else around you is up.  I love it when I can do that - for it is often like God just displays His beauty in the skies....just for me.

My daughter-in-love often posts sunset photos as the day is winding down.... they are beautiful photos... but is she where she can just sit and marvel at the beauty of God?  I imagine she is on her way home from work.  But, sometimes, just sometimes, I can catch God's handiwork in the mornings.  And it is a very good thing.

Why am I talking about sunsets and sunrises?  Because the scripture above reminds me of it.  When I sit silent, and block out the world for even a few moments, I can feel the present of God about me.... especially when I am sitting outside and able to see His handiwork.  I also get to see some of the sunrises as I will sit in here on the floor some mornings, open up the window shutters to where I can see clearly (through the dirt on the windows) the sky and I love the times I can do that and God and I just talk about the beautiful sky He has created for me to see.

But I have to keep my mouth shut too.  Put my journal and pen down.  And just look up to Him.  And in those few moments, all is well in my world.  No matter what comes up against me.... I know my life is filtered through the blood of Jesus, which is covering me.  Nothing can happen that my Father hasn't allowed.  And in these things I will be silent in Him, and rest in Him, and worship.  There is nothing more that I desire than to be sitting at the feet of Jesus, worshipping Him who loved me so much He gave His life for me.

I challenge you today, no matter what time it is that you read this...... take a few moments and just go sit outside and look around you.  Be silent.  Look up.  And worship your Creator, our Almighty, Faithful, All-Consuming Fire, our Nail in a sure place, our God.  It will be a meaningful experience for you.  And tell me about it.  I would love to hear it.  What did God speak to you in those moments?

Blessings!
