I think it was something I said....

Yeah, I made hubby angry last night.  You know when you get that 'sense' that maybe something slipped out of your mouth and you really didn't pause to let it even register what it was?  It wasn't meant as a jab or a snarky comment, I assure you.  I truly believe it was commented as a 'laughing whatever' comment. What did I do?  I honestly do not remember exactly......  but I got home last night from 'girls night out' and was sitting on the couch when hubby made a comment, something about he emptied the dishwasher and put the dishes away, he cleaned up the pan he used for his dinner (he didn't meet his friend last night but stayed home), and I forget if he said anything else.  Ok, so he was letting me know what he didn't do - and for sure, what he did do while I was out.  I think he wanted me to know that he didn't just sit there and watch TV all evening.

Fast-forward to about 9:30-ish; I'm not sure of the time, but I knew I needed to get to bed.  So I get the nightly rituals completed and I go in to the bedroom and find that not only is the bed NOT made, he had stripped the bed and washed the sheets - and they were laying on top of the bed, waiting on ME to put them on!  (No big deal, I've had to 'make' the bed for years when the sheets are washed; his complaint is that it hurts his shoulder to lift up one corner of the mattress)  So, not saying anything, I begin to put the sheets on the bed, pillowcases on the pillows, etc.  He comes in and comments "I got everything else done, but I didn't get the bed made; I guess when I told you I didn't get the bed made, you thought I didn't make the bed."  Which is true, he doesn't always make the bed, but will straighten it out before we go to bed.  I honestly do not know what came out of my mouth, but I must have said something about him 'not making the bed' was a common theme and as I didn't know he had stripped the bed to wash the sheets.....  well, however I said it or whatever I said.... I set him off last night.  He said I was putting him down. He said I was being hateful to him. He does everything for me, and I have to make comments.

Well, I guess I am guilty for making a comment.... I tried to explain that whatever came out of my mouth was not meant as a slam, or a putdown (at least not intentionally), but probably was just a comment that he doesn't always make the bed.  It.isn't.a.big.deal!!  And because it isn't a big deal to me - because he usually makes the bed at some time during the day.... or evening.... it was a big deal.

I woke up this morning with the song 'Counting my blessings' going through my mind.  And, it has been going through my mind off and on this morning.  When hubby brought my coffee in this morning, his tone of voice showed that he was STILL very angry with me.  But I smiled and thanked him for my coffee.  Maybe that irritated him as well.  I am thinking that for him to get past his hurt feelings from a comment I don't even remember making, that I am going to need to apologize.  How does one apologize for something that you aren't sure what was said?  Because I know him, he will TELL me what he thinks he heard..... Honestly, it wasn't a putdown, I'm sure!  He doesn't always make the bed.  Sometimes he is so busy going out with his friends or doctor appointments that he 'forgets' to make it.  Sometimes I make it.  It isn't a big deal to me.  But I guess I treaded on his pride of 'doing all the work' here at the house.  cough cough.  To bring peace, I am going to have to apologize.  sigh.

We got a nice surprise yesterday in that a grandson and his wife who live out of state flew in yesterday for a friend's wedding (that was last night) and came by to say hello.  We are meeting them for lunch today at the deli.  They will fly back late this afternoon.   It's always a good time when I see the grandchildren!  Especially when they seek to see us!  I feel so 'far out' at times for I know it takes a bit longer to get here.... but when they make the effort, I feel loved.  My last granddaughter visit announced I would be a great-grandma again - this will make #9!  I am getting old.  And I am blessed.  As soon as I hear a theme for this new great-grandchild, I will go looking for material.  My granddaughter and I touched base on my making a blanket/quilt.... she said her daughter still sleeps with the one I had made her, and of course my granddaughter has a special one I made her years ago.  If we find out it is a girl, I do have material already.  If it's a boy, then I may need to go looking!

Thinking about the quilts I've made for each of the grandchildren over the years.... I remember one grandchild 'lost' his because somehow it got bleach on it and it ate holes in it, if I recall correctly.  I need to see if I can find a Nemo pattern again.  LOL  Wouldn't that be a fun Christmas gift for him?  I wonder if he would be ok with it..... I wonder if he would consider it too childish since now he is a 'grown man'.  I don't even know if I can find that material again, but I just might have to look.  Next would be finding the time to make a small quilt.  But, I do need to find projects for Christmas and get started.

Proverbs 15:1 (NKJV):  A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

That's true in a lot of circumstances, do you agree?  Still thinking about last night - whatever was said wasn't spoken harshly..... am I wrong in thinking that maybe it was pride that got hurt?  Ah, enough thinking about that!  I will apologize for whatever I said so that we can have peace in the house.  It really wasn't enough to get yelled at, I don't think.  Need to end it or there will be sulking and hurt feelings all day.

I'm struggling with body image this morning.  I suppose I should truly watch what I eat - and I don't.  (I had a peach shake from Chick fil a last night!)  (and I enjoyed it)  I just have this roll that refuses to shrink or go away - even after a year of exercising!  Starting today, I'm going to try and really work on getting rid of it.  No matter how much I hold my belly in, it flops out there to let me know it's there.  sigh.  And it's my fault.

In fact - thinking of starting today - TODAY is the day I start the 500 miles walk.  Now I am asking myself 'what did you sign up for?'  But in reality, I am wanting to walk more; hubby won't let me walk alone, as a rule.  While he is checking tire prices this morning, perhaps I can sneak out for a walk around the block. (He says he needs 4 new tires.  I know I'm getting close; mine are 5 years old and have 46k miles on them)

I figure if I walk 3.5 miles a day, and some days more because I know I won't always get the 3.5 miles a day in, I can meet the 500 miles.  I'll try to remember to update each week on where I am at.  I really do want to do it - it's sad that I am doing it alone, but at least I'm making the effort.  I now wish I had my treadmill - but even 3 miles at the pace I go can take me nearly an hour.  I never can figure out how it can take nearly an hour at the gym on the treadmill, but if I'm outside walking, I can easily get it in less than 45 minutes.  I guess it's something about being outside.  I can also count 30 minutes of exercise as 1 mile, according to the 'rules'.  I need to find those 'rules' and look at what I can do to help get those miles in.  It's not steps - which is what my work monitors - it's miles.  So here we go....

People, start your walking!  Come walk with me, even if only a few paces.  You don't have to come here, but walk to the corner and back - get movement back in the body.  No one wants to live out their latter years sitting in a wheelchair due to lack of activity.  And I'm lazy, I admit it.  But I refuse to quit living.  I will keep moving this body to keep it strong for as long as I can.  I just wish.....  sigh....

Need to get my morning started and jump in the shower.  Hope you have an amazing day!  Remember, watch the words that you say, for you don't know which ones you will have to eat.

Blessings!
