If I'm going to write today....

I figure I best get on it now!  I am meeting Sue this morning for breakfast so have to take a shower and clean up - when on a normal work day, I get signed in usually while still in my jammies.  But on a positive note, I completed the stuffing of all the envelopes yesterday morning and they are now in the back of my car.  This simple task - well, I wish we had thought it through better!  Especially the postage!  I'd suggest we start looking now for next year, but Sue is retiring July 31st so it won't even be her 'problem'.   But on to even better subjects than spending breakfast with Sue this morning....

I had an amazing time yesterday with my oldest son.  I know he reads this every morning (or nearly), and I must say that the three hours we spent together over lunch - means so much to me!  We talked about subjects that even I was surprised we talked about, but we shared truth with each other.  We both opened up and revealed some of what is inside of us.  At least I believe we both did.  I loved the time we had together and I am grateful I had the day off and was able to just sit and 'be' with him.  And we ate salad(s) and just shared.  It is a time I would not trade for anything.  He makes me laugh; he makes me smile, and I am so proud of how he is taking control of his life and accepting what he needs to do.  And he bought lunch!  ;-)

I guess I had never thought much about the 'why' this son rarely took some of my salsa at Christmas. I'm sure he has mentioned it, but it filtered out my mind, I guess.  I had a jar of salsa I had made the other day in the refrigerator that I was going to give him.  He said no, he'd give it to his son at home.  But then he also mentioned that he preferred 'chunky' salsa versus what I make in my blender - and have for 44 years! (The recipe, which many may not know or remember, was attached to a wedding gift (chip & dip of course) from a friend of his who gave me my first taste of salsa 44 years ago.  Of course I don't try to make it as hot as he made it, and I probably don't use the same peppers, but oh it is so good!  Anyway - since I still had cans of tomatoes and a green pepper, while my son was on a lengthy call, I paused what I was doing long enough to cut up by hand all the tomatoes, peppers, etc., following the same recipe, only making it chunky.  I let him taste it (needed to add more garlic) on one of his breaks.  But I sent a quart jar home with him.  I kept wanting to text him last night to be sure he didn't leave it in the car.... but I told myself he is a big boy and would have taken it in. :-)  I hope it was good and he enjoys it.  Also sent a small jar of 'my' salsa for his youngest... at least he likes it. LOL

I am wondering if having the fan on at night over the bed is keeping me from sleeping well.  I had hubby turn it on a week or more ago as I was waking up hot at night.  And I still did ... why?... even with the fan on.... the fan is on... so hubby turns the thermostat up to 76!  Why is that?  I've told him hundreds of times that I/we sleep better when the room is chilly.  Turn the stupid thermostat down to 69 or 70!!  But, he consistently - without the fan, may turn it to 74.  And now with the fan, it's 76 or 78.  I can't win.  I can't get it through his head that to sleep well, is to be cool.  I'm throwing covers off many times during the night. And it's not menopause!  I went through that 30+ years ago.  He has his own mindset and I can't get him to change it, no matter what I tell him.  He may do it one night when I speak up, but the next night - it is back up.  Maybe I need to mention it every night? Although sometimes it does develop into a 'discussion' that isn't worth having..... just saying.

Yeah, I woke up very tired this morning.  And I didn't do anything to be this tired.  Last night I was able to finish up two books that I have been reading.  That felt good. Of course hubby wasn't happy when he asked "what do we do tonight?" and I said "leave the TV off and read".  He is so addicted to his phone and the TV.  I can't stand either all the time.  My phone is for my convenience, not my life.  The news isn't going to get better or change if I watch it. Or not.  If something is critical, I will hear about it from someone, right?   Coffee has helped some, but need to grab me a can of Elevate water and see if that won't clear the fog out of my head.  (erase erase)  Yeah, you don't need to read that. LOL

Yes, I am 'back to work' today and I have lots to catch up on.  Been going through my work emails on my phone and deleting those I don't have to do anything with. But there are still things I need to get done. But first, meeting Sue is on the agenda.  She is a positive joy, for sure.  Our next breakfast is in the middle of July, I think it is.  Then she retires.  She says we will go to meeting on Saturdays maybe once a quarter.  We used to do that many years ago when she worked at one company and I worked at another for a brief time.  We would meet early and walk a couple miles, then settle in at a bagel shop and have breakfast together.  I prefer us working together, but when she retires.... sigh.  I think I will be working for awhile yet.  Personal reasons.

And with that, I need to stop and jump in the shower.  Sorry, nothing thought-provoking today.  Need to get my act together and get moving.  It's windy out... my sinus is acting up - ugh.  I'm sure yours is too. I remember my son talking about allergies yesterday. Or commenting on them.

I hope you have a WONDERFUL and AMAZING day!

Blessings!
