I'm getting to it!

Here it is 7:45a and I haven't even started writing in here!  It's Labor Day and I do not have to work today; 'slept in' until about 5:15a or so.... done my Bible reading, and getting still more settled in here. I don't have to come out of this room until I want to.... well, not for another hour or so, anyway.  I'm on my second cup of coffee and I'm still in my jammies.  You needed to know that, right?  I still have a couple books I want to read my 'daily' in, and of course, finish this post.  I have nothing specific planned for today.  With hubby, it is difficult to plan much.... and I guess it is better to leave that there.  If I live long enough, things will be different, because I want them to be.

We got to 'watch' one of our great-granddaughter's yesterday morning for an hour or so while my youngest went to have his yearly CT scan done.  I had thought I could give her the child's Ipad I have here, left by my daughter, but I couldn't find any games on it so didn't know what happened.  Later my daughter called me and said 'swipe left'.  DUH.  All the games were on the next 'page'.  Oh well.  Now I know.  I do need to go through and delete those that require a subscription for I'm not paying for anything!   Hubby was ok as I kept her busy; we played with the dolls, we played some games.  Always having to assert his authority, he and I did clash at one point. Sigh.  I know he means well, but is so annoying at times!

We ended up watching our service on TV.  After our great-granddaughter was picked up, we had time to get dressed and go to church, but then hubby says, "can we watch the service on TV?"  I just looked at him and asked why.... "It's too hot to go out".  WHAT?  That is the lamest excuse I think he could come up with!  It's easier for me to 'give in' than to fight over something like that - after all, the church is 'us', not the building.  A little later he asked if I was angry with him (we weren't talking - but nothing really unusual about that) and I told him no, I wasn't angry with him; I was disappointed FOR him.  He didn't understand.  So I explained... because he didn't want to go fellowship with other believers, he missed out on touching base with people.  Yes, I could have gone by myself, but he would have gotten dressed and gone with me, and whined the entire time it was so hot.  Sometimes it is easier to just give in and let him have his way.

So the day was kind of quiet.  About 2-3p, he asked if I was getting hungry - i.e., "are you going to fix us anything to eat?"  I had some chicken tortilla soup so did fix that for us for a late lunch.  And no, I didn't cook last night.  At 4p he turned on the Notre Dame game and I worked on a diamond art project then hit my crocheting projects.  And, then afterwards, of course, it was NCIS until we went to bed around 10p; he had already fallen asleep in his chair.... it had been such a busy day for him! A little sarcasm here.... one of these days he won't be able to walk at all for all he does is sit - either at his desk, at the kitchen table, or in his recliner.

Which reminds me... after the first of the year I will need to think more about this..... he will be 90 next year and I should throw him a party.

And since I don't really have a life outside of work and home.... and church.... here I am rambling again this morning.

My daughter, when she called yesterday, advised that plans had been changed for their trip out here in October.  Of course nothing is concrete until that time, but the plan at this moment is that the grandson and family with stay with his sister, and my daughter and husband will stay will us the entire stay. They decided not to spend the money for an Airbnb.  Which is fine. I don't care.  So 10/2 - 10/6 they will be here with us.  I need to clean this room.  Still.

Just got my 'today's tidbit' from my son, who texts me every morning with one.  He had me laughing at this one, for I immediately thought of he and his wife having this conversation!  What was the tidbit?  I hope you find it as funny as I did, and if you know them, you know exactly why it sounds like them!  Today's Tidbit:  "My wife called to tell me she saw a fox on the way to work. I asked how she knew it was on it's way to work. She hung up on me."  Now my DILove often works the holidays so others can have it off so I immediately was thinking this was 'real'.  I actually was laughing out loud.  And you know what?  It feels good.  I don't do that often enough.

I listened to audible last night while hubby was watching the game.  What am I listening to?  Mel Robbins The High 5 Habit.  Yes, it has language in it.  Wish it didn't, but I am listening to it and I am actually getting some things out of it.  I even signed up for her newsletter @ high5challenge.com because I wanted to learn more about this.  The basis of the book is giving yourself a 'high five' every morning in a mirror to start your day.  It is a way to say "you got this!"  "you are confident!" "you can do it!" and so much more.  So for the next 5 days, I am challenging myself to 'high five' myself and change my outlook as I start my day.  If you try the 'high 5 challenge', let me know how it affects you each morning.  Yes, I feel ridiculous 'high fiving' myself... but if I don't do it - who will?

Psalm 103:1-5 (ESV):  Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Today and every day, Bless the Lord, for He alone is good.  His mercies endure forever.  I am so grateful that He loves me and drew me back to Him.  He completely changed my life and brought me back to life.  He alone is my Joy.  He is my strength. When I am weak, He is strong. When I am struggling, His arm is upon me.  He upholds me through the toughest and hardest times of my life.  How can I not bless Him, praise Him, for Who He is?  Like the song says, 'Praise God from whom all blessings flow!'  Or, how about, "Count your blessings, name them one by one, Count your blessings, see what God has done!  Count your blessings, name them one by one.  Count your many blessings, see what God has done!"

Wishing you many blessings today and always.

Blessings!
