We didn't go....

As I came out of the room yesterday to get a second cup of coffee, I mentioned to hubby that I really just wanted to stay in my room a bit longer and spend it with God.  Surprisingly, he quickly agreed.  So I 'argued' with him that we really needed to go to church. Which he immediately put on me, if I wanted to go, we'd go, but if not, we could stay home.  So we stayed home.  I got my second cup of coffee and went to take my shower (I needed it, regardless of whether we went to church or not!).  Came back in to my room to read and had just started when hubby comes in and starts talking to me.  Like, what?  Didn't I say I wanted to read and spend time with God?  I eventually gave up and went out to heat up eggs ole' for breakfast.  We watched the 10:30AM service of our church.  Message was pretty good.  It was on the first chapter of James.

The rest of the day was uneventful, pretty much.  Hubby left to go visit a close friend at the rehab center nearby.  Visits were to be kept at 15 minutes so he wasn't gone long.  I read some, I crochet'd some.  I should have gone to visit Ms. Diane, but I did not.  I really need to go over tonight, less the eggs ole. It's two days old; I won't take it to others now.

The Chosen had a special on You Tube last night, showing episode 1 of Season 5, which we saw at the theatre.  We did watch it and watched other things that Dallas Jenkins was sharing.  I really would like to sit down and watch each season all over again.  We never have watched them all the way through.  Hubby hasn't been that interested, and in truth, I had avoided the movies a lot in the beginning.  But I have come to enjoy them.  I want to start with season one and just perhaps do a season a night.  It could take a week to get through it all.  They are filming season six now.  The crucifixion.  That is tough to watch, regardless of which movie it is in.  The Passion of the Christ by Mel Gibson was heart-wrenching and after watching it a couple times, I could not watch it again.

My youngest is traveling and made it to Dallas last night in a bad storm.  He has already text'd me this morning that they are heading to Baton Rouge for a short visit with friends and then will be heading to Jackson, Mississippi for the night, then on to Clarkville, TN to see my cousin Rick, stop in Seiverville to see my nephew Jason, and then on to Indianapolis to visit my siblings and others he wants to see.  It is definitely a quick trip, but he is seeing lots of people he wants to see.  Continuously praying for his safety and for those with him.

Back to work today and it shouldn't be too bad.  I need to get myself focused and get things completed that I keep putting off doing.  I'm trying hard to get a new mindset and shake off this depression and heaviness I've been feeling lately.  If I can get my interest in other things, I won't wallow in my issues so much, right?

Hubby came to me yesterday and wanted to talk about 'what are we going to do about our anniversary vacation that we always take.  He usually pays for wherever we stay and I pick up the other costs.  So this comment I found interesting.  Perhaps it is from my commenting he always paid the bill where we stayed.  I am pretty sure he was expecting me to pay it out this year.  I could, but I won't. I finally told him that if he wants to get away for two nights and three days, I would be willing for us to stay at a hotel here in town (retreat) and if we go during the week, we shouldn't run into a lot of families with small children in the pool.  In the summer, the hotels here aren't usually too expensive, and we don't have to find a fancy one.  He started telling me about 'stuff' he had had to pay for.... and I reminded him that I paid $1600 for his hearing aids, $400 for his car battery, $2K for getting work done on my car, and a few other things.  And of course we have the $650 bill (which we will split just because I don't want him thinking I can pay for everything and he contributes nothing).  He wondered if we should cancel the trip to NM over the fourth, but I reminded him that it won't cost us anything as we aren't doing the driving.  We are the riders, and we will help with food, of course, (and I will help with gas) but overall, we won't have that expense.  So we have agreed, we will either stay at home over our anniversary (which I am completely fine with) or go to a hotel for a couple nights just to make him happy.  Whew.  I really did not want to rent an airbnb and be stuck somewhere, but he still wants to go somewhere cooler.  Will see how that will work out.

I tried iced coffee yesterday - and found that I like it!  But, I think I drank it late enough in the day that I certainly wasn't ready to go to sleep when hubby wanted to go to bed last night.  When I told him I wasn't ready to go to bed, he sat down and waited until I was.  I don't know what it is with him to be so clingy all the time - it drives me crazy.  I laid awake most of the night I think, so if I have an iced coffee today, it will be early afternoon, I think!  It actually was refreshing and I enjoyed it a lot.

Matthew 7:13-14 (NKJV):  Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Have you ever thought how easy it is to reject God and do your own thing?  That is because the gate is wide for all those who follow their own ways. Who do their own thing. Who refuse to obey God and follow Him.  But narrow is the gate for those who choose to be obedient and follow Jesus.  I don't know about you, but I want to go through that narrow gate, and run into Jesus' arms when I see Him.  That is the purpose I was created - to worship God and obey Him.  We are to follow Him only.  Yeah, it's tough sometimes cause self gets in the way all the time.  Especially when you are married and/or have children!  It's so easy to do things our way.  But when we let Jesus guide us, not only is our family reconciled and together, we are so much happier.  You can tell that by all my sharing in here.  When hubby and I are at odds, it is usually because one of us wants our own way, right?  Life is hard, I will admit.  And sometimes I don't know if I can get through it and make it to the narrow gate.  I certainly would hate to get there and be turned away.  Wouldn't you?  What are you doing to ensure you will be able to go through the narrow gate to find Jesus?

Something to think about, yes?

Blessings!
