Finally Friday

i wonder how often we call Friday "Finally Friday" in our conversations.  On Thursdays I will get emails stating "Happy Friday Eve" like this is a big day or something.  But it is only a big day when one is working, I guess, and looking forward to finishing out the work week (if you don't work on Saturday) and having a day off.  With a trip to Mesa and a couple trips over to the IT office, I've actually gotten out of the house on business a few times.  It's been nice.

My boss sent me a message early yesterday morning asking how I was doing.  She and I both were going back and forth about her new boss and my new support.  I told her I was doing better, and shared the devotional I had read.  You can go back to yesterday's post and (re)read it.  She liked it a lot and we ended up talking about it some.  I thanked her for keeping me centered on not letting things control me, and she thanked me for the encouragement and the spiritual leadership I give her (me? the one who is nearly always off the wall?).  We really do make a good team and we both thank God for bringing each other into our lives.

Yesterday there was an incident that was hysterically funny in my mind.  I laughed - a lot.  Hubby wasn't quite as amused.  Hubby had gone outside to water the plants (even the dead ones in the basket... haven't figured that out yet.  Does he plan to resurrect them?) and he noticed something on the ground so he came into the house and asked me to come look to see if I knew what it was.  It looks ugly, but like a huge mushroom that has grown over a two foot area in a 6-8" line.  It was hard, he said, yet slimy.  And it was stuck to the ground.  We found a couple other places where it had started growing in the rocks next to the house.  I took a photo and sent to our son-in-law and he immediately came back with 'fungus'.  As I was doing that, a neighbor down the street was getting his mail so hubby asked that he come down and look at it and tell us what it is.  I already had the answer, but the neighbor came down and said the same thing - fungus.  He kicked it until he loosened a bit of it (about 3" high!) and suggested we dig it up and then sprinkle/pour muriatic acid on it to kill it so it wouldn't grow back.  He mentioned that he has seen it around the neighborhood before.  Then the neighbor looks at me and asks who I am... I hadn't met him yet.  (This is where it gets funny!)  Tom introduces me as his wife as I shake his hand and give my name.  The neighbor looks at me and hubby and tells him something to the effect "if I had seen her first she sould be barefoot...".  He asked if I had heard that saying before.  I finished it for him - "barefoot and pregnant"?  I'm a Tennessee gal; of course I have heard that saying!  That got me started laughing.  Then it was weird.... he insisted Tom and I go to his house across the street and down a couple because he wanted to show up the layout.  Neither hubby nor I could figure out the WHY he insisted on us seeing his house.... ours is different layout... not that it matters.  But this guy was popping off comments on different things and they would just make me laugh.  As we left, he commented to hubby "no wonder you are smiling all the time"!   Ah.... little does he know.... but it did make me laugh again and we still couldn't figure out why he wanted to show us his house.

No, hubby didn't remove the fungus yesterday.  He said he would go out 'early' this morning before the sun gets hot (it's already 82 degrees at 5:48AM) and dig it up.  We also discussed a spot in the rocks that is wet with a little standing water.... I've seen it before but hadn't thought much about it.... our neighbor said it looked to him like a pipe has broken and is leaking - and that it had been fixed within the last year.  Thank goodness we don't have to pay the water bill - the HOA does.  So hubby needs to put a 'flag' on that spot so that the landscapers will take care of it.  The neighbor (who is also on the HOA) said he would call the property management  person for us and tell them what needs to be done.  I guess it was obvious that hubby doesn't know.  Remember me getting by ants the other week?  He put a flag where the ants are.... after property management told him to buy some ant killer and put out there.  He didn't.  He put a flag.  The landscapers will not do anything about ants.  And now that I know he didn't do anything, guess we will get it this weekend and spread it out there.

Although I don't have much in plans for the weekend, I'm looking forward to it.  I still need to unload the computer equipment out of the car but decided that I need to bring in the house as the garage gets so hot.  Not good on company equipment.  I think I'll clear off a shelf in the hall closet so that I can put things there.  That will be a project I can do - and if things are slow today, I may just do it today to get it done.

So what are your plans for the weekend?  I'm thinking some crocheting, some straightening up, emptying the car of computer equipment, church, getting rid of some clutter, and relaxing.  I saw an 'estate sale' sign yesterday down the street.  I REALLY wanted to go see what was there and see if there are any pretty dishes..... but I would not let myself.  I have enough clutter still that I don't need to add to it just because it's pretty.  I had to let go of so much (not whining, just reality) when we moved - and I'm glad we did.  I was able to pass some things on to others and Goodwill made a fortune off of us.  I still have a lot that I need / should get rid of... but not this weekend.  Not going to be that thorough.  But the most important thing I will do this weekend is spend my time with Jesus.

Jesus gets me going in the mornings - even on weekends.

Blessings!
