A somewhat busy day....

Well, I only have two things that I can remember is on the agenda for today.  I have a workout with Morgan @ 8:30a, and a board meeting @ 12:30p I think it is.  Other than that, I'm not sure what is on my calendar for today.  I'll need to do minutes (at some point) from today's board meeting, but likely not today. Yeah, it would be easier but nah, I have time.  This board's next meeting is either November or December.  I have time.

Had dinner with friends last night and it seems nearly every time we connect, Mike, the husband, always has bought something or done something and has to show me.  Well, last night I noticed a bracelet on his arm and asked him about it.  It was a turtle tracking bracelet.  Say what?  I guess Cabellos has them, plus he gave me the website - which is in in my purse and unless someone asks for it, I'm not getting up to get it out at this time.  I'm going to look at it just cause I'm curious.  But this would be so fun to watch, don't you think?  From what I understand, you buy these bracelets and download this app and you can 'track' whatever animal you want to track.  When these animals are captured, they are tagged and then released.  There are sharks, bears, turtles, and lots of other animals. I had fun going through the app with Mike and him showing me all these things.  I actually watched the shark - I think 'Twinkle' was it's name? - anyway, it moved from one area to another (in the ocean).  Mike said he had bought several of the bracelets and gave to his grandchildren to track.  It could be a fun gift, don't you think?  I'm going to look more in to it, although I probably will not be buying for the family.  I did say at one time I was cutting back, right?  LOL  But I may have to get myself one, just for the fun of it.  Or not.  Mike said there is one shark off the coast of Louisiana!  Maybe I'll pull the address for the website out tomorrow and share.

I talked with my little brother yesterday for awhile and he is not doing well.  He thinks the cancer is back in his right lung. But he also said he is in extreme pain (to the point he may go to the VA today to have it checked out) but doesn't know if it is his liver or his lung.  That confuses me; they aren't that close together are they?  Either you lung hurts or your liver hurts.  He had had cancer in the lung, but they said they got it all with radiation - but that was 3 months ago.  He hasn't been back.  I know he has a 'fatty liver', as many people do.  So - where is this pain radiating from?  I'll make a note to call him tomorrow to see if he did go to the VA today.  He said that the other night the pain was so bad he nearly went to the ER  but did not.  It wasn't so bad yesterday, but it was still bad, and he had started coughing more than usual.  I am concerned and definitely was praying for him this morning.  I really do not want to make unplanned trips 'back home' for services, if you know what I mean.

And the same goes with my brother-in-law.  He has had bone cancer - multiple myeloma - for about 10 years - and back then was given 7 - 10 years... and had been on chemo for nearly all these 10 years.  Now the chemo has quit working; so the new doctor says.  Yesterday she put him on several pill medications.  He had to take these pills over 7 hours yesterday at the hospital (all experimental) so that they could observe any reactions.  I didn't talk to my sister last night so will check with her today on what is going on.  But, he says he knows the bone cancer has spread as he is in more concentrated, constant pain.  Does sound good there either.

My big brother is slowing down a bit, it seems.  He's 81 now and just keeps going.  For the first time that I can think of, instead of him remodeling/redoing their back patio, enlarging it, I think, he is thinking of hiring someone to do it 'if the price is right'.  But he did put lights up around the house yesterday. He sent me a video. I asked if he was preparing for Christmas. LOL  He said 'no' - lights around the house is a new trend there.  Interesting. And even more interesting, as we drove home from dinner last night it was dusk and I noticed a house that had lights around the top of it - just like my brothers!  It must be a trend - somewhere!  Me  - I'm not into 'trends'. LOL  We have the little gadgets all around the roof of our house where the previous owners must have put up lights at Christmas.  We do not.

God woke me up at 4a this morning and I managed to drag myself out of bed.  After my readings, and sitting here typing in here, I now look at the clock and it is nearly 7a, which means I will need to finish this on the work computer.  Where does my time go?  I have started reading more in my Bible.  Going to Psalms and Proverbs now.  Once through them, will move on into the books following - Song of Solomon and Ecclesiastes.  Did you know that Proverbs, Song of Solomon (his love story), and Ecclesiastes are all written by King Solomon?  I can't wait to get into Isaiah though - and Jeremiah is one of my favorites.  So is Malachi.  Ok, so I do have several OT books that I enjoy reading. And learn from.  Today I read from Psalm 46 and the tenth verse is one I hold dear in my heart.

Psalm 46:20 (ESV)  Be still, and know that I am God.  I will be exalted among the nations, I will exalted in the earth!

When was the last time you were 'still' and sat before God and just listened for His voice? That you were quiet, and allowed your own thoughts to fade away and just soak in the Presence of our Holy God and just 'be'?  This is my 'why' of getting up early in the mornings so that I can home (somewhat) uninterrupted time and just allow myself to 'be' with God.  Alone, in silence, and with Him.  This is what keeps me going every morning.  I can't just come in and sit down and grab my bible and start reading.  I have to spend time just reflecting on His goodness and grace to me.  I am definitely lost without His mercy and grace!  He has the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Philippians 4:7 (ESV):  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Peace is good, right?  If nothing else goes right in my day, I know that by spending time with my Lord Jesus first thing in the morning is going to help me get through the day - no matter what comes at me.  And peace He will give to you as well.  Do you want peace?  Just ask Him; He will give it to you.

Time to jump on the work computer - my prayers are that you will have an amazing day and trust in the Lord with all your heart, no matter what.  He always 'has your back'!

Blessings!
