I was getting my hair done last night when my youngest son called me. I couldn't take the call then, but later made contact - only to hear that his daughter tested postive for covid. And she had been at the wedding on Sunday. I've been feeling fine all week - other than a dry nose at times which I have contributed to the heat being on some as my hair has been electrified as well. Dryness in the air. Later he text'd that his wife also had tested postiive. And then after I went to bed, he text'd that he also tested positive.
So here's my delimna - I have had things going on every day this week. I donated blood on Monday. I had something on Tuesday, Wednesday I went to the oral surgeon, last night I got my hair done, and today I have a dental cleaning appointment. I'm feeling fine, so part of me thinks I can go get the cleaning done (after all, they do take temps at the office when you go in). Another part says call them and leave it up to them to reschedule me (but I want to get this dental stuff behind me!), and yet another part tells me to take the covid test that I received in the mail this week and if positive, stay home, if negative, just go.
And I'm leaning towards taking the covid home test and seeing what it comes out as. I'm sure it will be negative and I'm just wasting a test. Or I can save the test and just make the phone call and reschedule. Do I REALLY want scaping on my teeth today? I hate going to the dentist. Yes, I used the 'hate' word! I always leave with a very bad headache every time that I go even for a cleaning. The test is simple enough - the swab in the nose, put in solution, and wait 15 minutes. If that is all it is, why is there such a long wait to get an answer when you go to the urgent care for testing?
addendum..... hubby and I discussed it. We took our temperature. normal. We neither have symptoms of anything..... so are continuing life as normal. We were never in contact with the son or his wife, and one hug or two from the granddaughter 5 days ago.... and there are other things that could have caused her to 'not feel good' and test positive... just saying.
The wind is blowing really hard this morning as I can hear it and a metal flag I have against the wall outside is banging against the house. That type of wind always causes some minor allergy issues - for many people. For me, it is usually watering eyes and a runny nose - but I haven't been out in it - yet. Maybe I do just want to reschedule! But then, what are reactions to my Fosamax too. I took it on Wednesday and it usually has some reaction in me.
Today is Friday and I'm glad. Work has been busy this week and with taking time off during the day for most of it, I've been playing catch up most of the time. It should be a fairly light day. I did check the computer when I got home from getting my hair done and scheduled an appointment I saw a request for so I don't have it this morning facing me.
Nothing going on this weekend - depending on the testing, will see if we attend church physically or once again online. I really do want to get back into going to church physically. I miss being with people. These walls - and hubby - are enclosing in on me again and I desperately need to get out into the world.
Hubby is going to have breakfast with a friend this morning. I'm going to make him take the test too before he goes. If I have to take it, so does he. Just because I have a dental appointment and he's meeting a friend for breakfast doesn't mean he can get past it. He saw our granddaughter on Sunday as well! Although we didn't spend that much time with her, just a hug when we saw her.... she left without telling us goodbye so I'm guessing that was it. Hmmm. I did go over to their table and talked with them, but she was 6" or so away on the other side of the table.
I'm still reading in Luke in my Bible and today was about when Jesus climbed into the empty boat and had Simon push the boat out a bit so that He could speak with the multitude. And then afterwards... He told Peter to go out into the deep and cast out his net. Simon thought Jesus was nuts - afterall, he had been fishing all night and got nothing. Yet, there was something about the way Jesus looked at him, and told him to do it, that Simon obeyed. And what a catch it was! So much that he had to call James and John in the other boat to come help him get the net in! And how did Peter respond to this?
Luke 5:8 (NKJV) "When Simon saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!""
And Jesus told Simon to not be afraid, that he would now be a fisher of men.... and Simon, Andrew, James and John, left their fishing boats and followed Jesus.
What would it take for you to follow Jesus? What miracle would He have to do to get your attention? Simon wasn't asking for a miracle. He just pushed his boat out at Jesus' instructions; he barely knew Jesus! And yet, when Jesus performed a miracle with all the fish, Simon was convicted of all his sins and when forgiven, left all he knew, all he had, and followed Jesus.
I often have to evaluate where I am in my walk with Jesus. Yes, I believe He has forgiven me all my sins. Yes, I believe that I walk with Him daily (or I try to!). Yes, I believe He is always with me. BUT.. if He told me to walk away from my home, my comfort, my children and grandchildren - to go somewhere and serve Him.... could I do it? Would I do it? At one time I would have said 'YES" without pausing. Now that I am older, and more lazy, and more settled in.... would I? I feel like I need to be doing SOMEthing.... but I don't know what. And with hubby always insisting we do things TOGETHER.... what if Jesus doesn't call him to do what He calls me to do? Another topic for another day.
Blessings!
