a case of strawberries, mini watermelon, and cucumbers. There is a company that will send a text out to those who are signed up, and tell what fruit and vegetables they have for sale. I haven't bought for a few weeks - but yesterday, I decided I'd go down. So what do I plan to do with all of it? Well..... last night I made two strawberry pies - which took care of 3 of the 8 packages of strawberries. I have two more I plan to make today, which leaves two packages, and I will wash them whole and put in freezer for our protein shakes. And, I'm thinking about going to get another case today! Why? Cause I love to make things and give away. Wondering if my boys like strawberry pie..... hmmmm As for the cucumbers, I plan to start making bread and butter pickles this weekend, although I don't plan to use them all. Wonder if I can get some of the kids to take some - yeah, got a case of those too, and I think there are 36 cucumbers. And the mini watermelon.... I think there are 12 of those. I'll be checking with Ms. Diane and Ms. Vicky..... want to give them 1/4 of a pie too. I love to bake and make things, but I sure can't keep it around here cause I'll eat it! But I probably won't go get any more today - just don't have the time to do so.
After reading my Bible this morning, all I've wanted to do is sleep! I DID work hard yesterday - mentally - for the office - it was really busy with scheduling meetings. Then I had my workout and he worked me hard last night. Then I made the two pies.... could that be the reason I'm tired and sleepy? Oh, and we watched the baseball game to the end - which was only about 9PM, but 8:30PM is usually my bedtime. Oh well; I'm awake at the moment and once I finish this, I'll hit the floor running again for the day.
Ms. Amy's daughter called me and advised their schedule. They are coming out and will be here on Sunday. She's having a dumpster delivered next door for she said they will be throwing things away out of cabinets. She told me if we had things to throw away to feel free to put in the dumpster too. Uh no, if I've hung on to it, it is worth something to someone and I'd rather give to the Salvation Army. But I do need to go over one more time this week and check on things and move the car to the left side of the garage as the dumpster will be on the right side and they need to be able to get it out of the garage. I will be so glad when they are finished with it all. I've tried to keep things up on the outside for them, but I can only do so much - it's not our place. This daughter plans for it to go on the market for $450K because it is a corner lot and has 5 fruit trees. I have news for her - there is no way she can get that much out of it. Let's just say, I'd be surprised if they did. There are several places around us up for sale - and some have been for sale for a few months... so, don't care if it is a corner lot, there is no special thing about that. It's still just 1/2 a duplex with 5 fruit trees that have to be trimmed by the homeowner (last time she paid $650 for the trim and they are needing it again. Not. my problem so stay out of it, right?
Proverbs 1:8-9 (NKJV): "My son, hear the instruction of your father, and do not forsake the law of your mother; for they will be a graceful ornament on your head, and chains about your neck."
No, that verse is not saying that the instructions from your parents will drag you down and mess you up, it is saying that when you listen to the words of instruction of your youth from your father, and the things your mother teaches you as well, they will be a crown for your head and necklace about your neck. Remember back in the biblical times when the sons would wear turbans, based on their value as a son, and chains around their neck to show how loved they were. So many times our children think our instructions and 'laws' are outdated, or they can do things better. Well.... just look at the generations after you. One of my good friends has ended up raising two of her grandchildren because her daughter wouldn't. And it happens all the time. Ok, enough of my opinion. I've erased a lot on this topic.
My phone dinged a little bit ago... it was my little sister and she must be going through photos again. She just needs to find a job. She finally confessed the other day that she is a shopaholic. Just because Amazon is having their 'prime days', doesn't mean you have to buy something because it's on sale... she text'd me that she saw a butter dish that was cute so she ordered it... I asked her if she needed one... no, but it was cute. I retorted back "and that is why you struggle with not having any money".... and yes, I was curious of what was on sale so did a look.... but I did not buy anything from Amazon. Didn't the last prime days either. Unless there is something specific I'm looking for - why buy it just because it's on sale? It was a cute butter dish, but I have two that I don't use. Maybe I should send my little sister one of them?
Anyway, the photo she sent me a copy of was our mother in our brother's swimming pool.... and she was smiling so big. I tried twice to email to myself so that I could try posting it here, but it hasn't come through on my email yet. Oh well. I need to go through photos and get our jailbreak photos printed; maybe I'll print that one too, along with others, and put in a collage. I need to update photos on my wall anyway - but I really do like some of these photos. Especially of my oldest son - he is very photogenic when he wants to be, and I love these photos of him and his boys and his daughter.
Well, I reckon I've rambled on enough this morning and I'm starting to wake up. Time to get ready for work and face the new day. Housecleaners will be here today around noon so I need to put some of my things away that I leave laying out. Plus, if I am going to make the pies I need to get busy in between meetings... or just wait until tonight. Will see how busy today is...
Hope that you have an amazing day!
Blessings!
