Peace and Quiet...

and now my tummy is telling me it's hungry!  Hubby has left for a men's breakfast at the church so I am alone for a couple hours.  I love these moments when the house is silent and 'the only sound is the beating of my heart'.... wait!  Isn't that part of a song?

Although we watched three (yes, three!) movies last night and didn't get to bed until after 10PM, I was awake at 3:30AM so just got up.  No sense in trying to go back to sleep, it wasn't happening.  But I did try.  I came into my room and got settled into my chair... and tried to go back to sleep. After all, it IS Saturday and I could sleep a bit later.  There is a possibility I could have dozed some, but it sure didn't feel like it when I finally gave up about 4:30AM and decided to read my Bible.

It's nearly 7AM now and I'm 'really late' in getting this completed, based on the past.  Of course, in the past days, I've also had to be on my work computer by 7AM so there is that reason.  Oh well.

I plan to start a new workout this Monday.  I PLAN to.  I've actually started some of the warm-up exercises this week to where my body is screaming "rebel! rebel!"   I always have excuses - and valid ones as a rule - on why I fail.  But it is a desire to get this body in shape.  Still, according to my instructions from my doctor last year, I am to have been doing 'weight-bearing' exercises to build up my bones all year long.  Ooops.  I go see him in three weeks for my physical.  I wonder if I can build up quickly?  Probably not, huh.  I don't want to 'bulk' up, just have definition that is somewhere hidden within these layers of my body today.

I Timothy 4:8 (NKJV):  "For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come."

Hmmmm, that scriptures implies that bodily exercise doesn't do much... it is more that I be godly than it is in having a perfect body.  So what would a more healthy, more active, body do for me?  It would probably give me more confidence in the clothes that I wear.  A family member always said that she got the boobs in our family and I got the butt.  That could very well be a true statement, but I've noticed other parts growing outward on this body as well.  Sigh.  "If it's to be, it's up to me" - right?

Did you hear the story about the old deacon who used to get down in the old prayer meeting and pray, "God, clean out the cobwebs in my life!"  Every week, he would pray this.  After he warmed up a little, his voice was raised as he cried out loudly, "O God, clean out the cobwebs in my life!"  People could hear him all the way down the block!

His young pastor heard this week after week until he just couldn't take it anymore.  The next prayer meeting the same thing happened.  The deacon got going and he began to call out, "O God, clean out the cobwebs in my life!"

The pastor jumped up and rushed over to him and stood there and said, "God, don't do it!  But kill the spider."

Sometimes we just pray around things and neglect getting to the real issues - what the real problem is.

Psalm 51:10:  "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me."

When we allow wrong thoughts, negative thoughts, impure thoughts to remain and grow, we are going to dim our vision of God.  That's why we need to pray that our hearts be clean and undivided, so that our true focus is on Him, and not our issues, our problems.

So where are you at this morning?  Take a few moments of silence and check out the spiders dwelling within the cobwebs of your life.  As God to create in you a clean heart, and to renew His spirit within you.

Blessings!
