I think it went well....

I had put all the recycle items behind my car on Tuesday evening so that all hubby had to do was drag them to the street.  Well, he forgot.  I did too, not thinking about it until I heard the truck in front of the house.  Because they were still behind my car, hubby drove me to the doctor's office.  Good thing; he had moved his office and I had not been there before - I think I could find it again on my own, but it's in one of those A-B-C-D complexes and trying to find a parking spot is very difficult. Anyway - he knew where he was going and we made it just fine.

I sat in the room for about 20-25 minutes before Dr. Mark came in.  He was friendly... but he did remember my letters I wrote in complaint before I left. LOL He probably has them in my folder.  Anyway, he sat with me for nearly an hour - seriously! - and he was very transparent on how they bill, what insurance pays (things they SAY they pay for but will not).  They use Labcorp; he will have to write me a script as I have to go to Sonora Quest.  He sends women to Solis for mammograms (I love them, but they are not contracted with my company) so will need to write me a script to go to an Imaging place near me. Little things like that - he will have to write scripts and I will need to take with me. No biggie.  We talked about a lot of things.  He also doesn't do well checkups the first visit with a 'new' patient (which I am). So I am now scheduled for September 3rd to go back for the actual physical.

Partly so that my children will know who my doctors are and what shots I've had, what my medical history is, should I ever lose my mind (and sometimes I think I'm on the way there!) I have everything typed out.  I gave each one a copy a couple years ago; I wonder if I should send them via email an updated copy.  It IS personal information, but some of their medical history via my parents, grandparents, and siblings as well.  Anyway, I hand it to the doctor so I don't have to remember who died of what and he can see at a glance what 'runs' in my family.  For example, he noted that heart disease runs in my family - pretty much on the male side, and at an early age.  He also noted the diabetes that runs in my family; again, along the male side.  And he also noted cancer in my mother and my younger brother.  I'm not affected by any of those, yet, he has made a mental note that if something points that way, it is in my history.

I also brought up Virta Health, for I was curious if he knew anything about them.  He did not.  I explained that they wanted carbs at 30 g and protein at 90 g daily.  He commented at first that it was a lot of protein (I agree - especially since I don't eat a lot of meat and never meet it!), then as we talked, he exclaimed - "they are treating you as a type 1 diabetic - which you are not!".  That kind of startled me.  I mentioned before he said that - that I struggled with the plan because I can't have fruit, and I love an apple or orange, peaches, etc.  He couldn't believe they would count the carbs in FRUIT - which is good for you!  Granted, a diabetic may need to watch how much fruit they eat.  What was it he said about oranges.... oh yeah, something about the fiber in a fresh orange blocks the glucose/sugar thing... I don't understand it - but he said oranges and apples are good for you!  Although juices are too sweet, but fresh fruit and veggies are best.  Which we all know, but....

So I think I'm going to cancel out my Virta Health and try to push through on my own.  I just got a two month supply of lancets, glucose and ketone strips and alcohol pads.  I'll have to think if I will continue to do that... or not.  It does cause me to notice what the number is and think about how it got there.  For example, yesterday's glucose was 106.  This morning it was 113.  I'm guessing the difference is the glass of wine I had just before going to bed last night?  And I made Jasmine Rice for dinner, along with our broccoli and chicken bites.  Carbs, protein, and wine.  Works for me. :-)

Today is hubby and my 43rd wedding anniversary.  It's hard to believe we've lasted this long. I don't mean that in a bad way. But I could probably say that if we had lived in Indiana all these years, we probably would not be celebrating 43 years.  But we could, I guess.  Anyway, we are out here and when you don't have family around you to give their opinions.... you tend to push through no matter what, right?  Our relationship isn't what I always dreamed my marriage would be.  But then, how many women - and men - can say their marriage relationship is what they have always dreamed it would be?  I'm sure there are many couples that love each other deeply after all these years and can easily say that. And I praise them for it!  In some marriages, 'life' happens and it kills relationships. And I'll leave that right there.  I choose obeying God over my happiness, and that is what has kept me where I am.

I Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NKJV):  Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

So many times people try to blame God for their circumstances, when it is their own choices that have caused their problems.  I have never blamed God, for I know it is my choices that get me where I end up.  And sometimes, when I've complained, He will fix it, but not always.

What just came to mind was - remember me being so upset about the board meeting being taken away from me and another given to me?  Remember my trying to get my male boss to just let me do both of them and 'arguing' with him about taking the one I put together from the beginning away from me?  I even wrote him an email over a month ago now, I think, asking for the other board meeting back and let me do both - only he has never bothered to respond to me. (See why he irritates me so much? At least answer the email!!)

Anyway - long story short, I report up to my favorite boss and her boss is over a specific section/division, a VP.  My male boss reports up to the President of the division, but he is 'only' a chief and a senior director.  So yesterday, my favorite boss sends me an email (tee hee) that had been sent to her and my male boss, in which HER boss told my male boss (are you following me here?) that there have been some changes in the admin support area - and I was to be given BOTH of the boards to maintain.  Ironically, he has not mentioned it to me yet.  Of course he has been at a conference the past two days but I know he saw the email as he has asked me to do a couple things from other emails.  Will see if he will follow up to make sure I am aware I am to maintain that board still (since I do it anyway). It made me happy, but it is a lot of work.  And that's ok. I'm more confident with the boards now than I was a year ago.  Or even two years ago.  I've sat in both, I've done the minutes, and I can easily get them completed.  Because of the confidentiality, all I need to put in the minutes are the agenda items on what was in the discussion, note if a motion was made and who made it and seconded it.  I can get the minutes completed in ten minutes or less. (I know, so why does it take me so long to do them?)  Because he annoys me, that's why!

Which reminds me, when Dr. Mark and I were talking yesterday he asked me how long I planned to keep working - 'until you die'?  And I answered "yes, that is probably right."  He laughed.  As long as I can think clearly and WANT to work and CAN work - why not, right?  I would be sitting at home anyway.

And, I need to get on the work computer and get started on my day.  I need to check with my son.... I think there is a steak dinner at the post this weekend.  Can't remember which night. Might take advantage of it - unless he is tired of us 'meeting' him for dinner.  Cheaper than us going elsewhere.  I love it cause I get to spend quality time with him.  But, we do interrupt his reading..... just saying.

Gotta run - have an amazing day!

Blessings!
