That is what has been going on with me this morning. We did watch a movie last night, but I was still in bed before 9PM. I fell right to sleep - until around 2:30AM. I told myself I was not going to think about the bathroom... I was going to keep my thoughts neutral so that I could fall back asleep. I finally arose at 3:30-ish because I had been flip-flopping on the bed, trying to get back to sleep - even telling myself I didn't need to get up so early. So I came into my room and tried to sleep again. It hasn't worked. But my eyes are so heavy and I feel so exhausted. Not sure why, did absolutely nothing all weekend. Other than church, we didn't even leave the house. So between trying to read, writing in my journal, and trying to just close my eyes to give them rest, it is now 6AM and here I am. Along with the dull headache I've been fighting this past week. Do we have more rain coming in or something? It's got to be barometric related.
I have several things on my work calendar that I need to start on first thing this morning. And yet, I don't see it being a busy week for work. I need to learn some things, but it's really like 'why'? because even though the sessions are there we can learn new things (one drive, in note, etc.) I never use them (because I don't know how and don't really care to learn) and don't see any reason why I need to do the sessions and then forget what I've learned. Have I ever mentioned I really don't like computers? Why do we have all this extra stuff? Do we really need it?
Wow - where did that come from? LOL I just had a bout of several sneezes - and when that happens, I am always reminded of the story of Elisha and the Shunamite woman's son (remember that story?) and he sneezed and came back to life. Is there hope for me? That I am coming back to life? I sure hope it relieves the pressure in my sinus area and brings me back to life!
My little sister contacted me yesterday and wants to come out for a couple weeks. Yeah, a couple weeks. She wants to process some things in her life and needs to get away. Of courseI said she could. Between my daughter and I, we will make sure she has a place to stay. I understand the why, but I also tried to talk her through some things. I cannot give advice, I can only listen and encourage. I've never had it as bad as she has, but marriage, as many of us know, is very hard. She is overly sensitive about some things... and that makes life much more difficult. I don't know if she will actually come out or not. She was going to look at airline tickets last night, but couldn't remember how to do it. I didn't offer to do it for her, but told her how to bring it up and look. I'm more concerned about her mind. She hasn't 'done' anything since she 'retired' 15 years ago....only has read books. She hasn't been involved in anything that would use the mind. She buried herself in her cave. But, that's what we tend to do when we are hurting. A lot she has brought on herself. And now, she has no idea what steps to take. She mentioned coming out here to get a job - after all, she is a CNA. Maybe she could find a nursing home near here that she could work at. One day at a time.
My older sister called me yesterday. Seems she fell. Again. She had broken her right hand about a year ago and never had it taken care of, so it is basically crippled now; fingers going off in another direction. She fell Saturday and said she broke her left hand this time. Broke the skin too (but not with the bone). I asked if she called the parametics and she said no. She jsut wrapped up both hands (the right hand was hurt again too). She isn't supposed to drive because 1) her license has expired and 2) the doctor told her no more driving about a year ago due to all the medications she is on for the RA and whatever else she is on. And her son is still in the hospital and was sent to another city to a psych hospital, so she is alone - with his dog and bird. She really has no one who wants to take her to get her hands fixed and I'm a little irritated at my little sister. She was called and didn't take the call because she saw who it was. I told her yesterday when we talked what had happened and she needed to go see what she can do (after all, she is a CNA). I texted the little sister last night if she had called the older sister to see about her and she just text'd back "ooops". I must admit I was irritated but did not respond.
No matter how you feel about someone, if they need help, we all should be available to help that person get what they need. And I will be texting the younger sister this morning to remind her to go see the older sister and see about her. Good excuse to get out of the house for awhile if that is what she really wants. If she doesn't, then it really isn't important to her. Right?
Luke 6:31 (NIV): "Do to others as you would have them do to you."
The Golden Rule - we all know it. We usually ignore it, don't we? We somehow have changed it around some over the years to be 'do to others before they do it to you', I think. Or we just ignore it totally.
Even if you don't like someone, be kind. Be respectful, even if they don't deserve it. Keep your distance if you must (and I've done that a few times with these two!), but always be willing to help if there is a need. Why? Because you never know when you will need something, and they may be the one to supply that need.
And because God tells us to be Holy as He is Holy. We are to do good, even when we don't feel like it. We are all His children, whether we follow Him or not. We can't say we are concerned about one's soul and shut them out of our lives. You have to be involved in order to know where they are.
Now my thoughts are rambling, my head is hurting worse, and it's about time for me to get dressed so that I can turn the computer on - although I COULD stay in my jammies.... but I never know when someone may want to jump on Teams to have a virtual meeting/chat - and usually we open up the camera so that they can 'see' us face to face. My bosses and I do that frequently.
Oh yeah, I had a late meeting with my male boss last Friday. I had seen on the senior leadership meeting agenda that they were going to talk about admin responsibilities. I asked him about it - so he called me to discuss. 'They' are planning on taking one of my people away from me - which is fine - but it bothers me that they didn't discuss with me - other leaders had made that decision and had not even discussed with my other boss, who this person reports to. But, he said that it was decided that directors no longer have admin support, which means she would have to do her own people's timecards - which is basically all I do. Not a big deal. I don't mind doing her people's timecards.... and I do have the time - which reminds me - today is timecard day so I need to get my butt in gear and get dressed and started on approving them! This group is in Colorado so they are an hour ahead and many have already approved their time card so I just need to go in and approve them as well. :-) Easy peasy. So with that -
Have a blessed day! Life is too short to hold on to things that bother you. Take a moment and bring all these things to Jesus and ask Him to take them on. Then let go of them (again and again if you have to) and begin to live today renewed and refreshed, without a care in the world.
Blessings!
