From busy to so so to extreme JOY!

He did it again.  He answered my prayers.  Prayers that I didn't even know why it was laid on my heart. And I had forgotten, until later last night.  And I ask myself, 'was that just a passing thought, or did I really pray for that?'  I honestly don't know how to answer that question.  What in the world am I talking about, right?  Well, we all know that God answers in His timing and in His own way.  Nothing we can say or do will change what God will do.  And each thing He does, is a blessing.

Yesterday, as you know, started out with my working on the message for this afternoon, taking a short break, later in the day trying to find songs we can sing without music accompaniment.  Our pastor friend has music downloaded on his phone (I do not) which he uses a sound bar (which I don't have) to have the music where everyone can hear it at the independent living place.  I decided, after looking for a CD and not finding the one I want, that I wasn't going to worry about it.  I believe I found a few songs that they should know by heart, if they have been in church any.  I still need to review the message this morning and increase the font on the words of the songs so that they can see them (I'm old as well, I can understand the difficulty in seeing small print!)  It really is unnerving to see that I am probably in the age range of some of these people.  Many walk by themselves, some have walkers, some are in wheelchairs.  But all seem able to take care of themselves pretty much.  Some are alert, some not so much.

Anyway - I worked on that off and on yesterday.  We took a break and went to see the youngest son and 'meet' the 'new' great-grandson for the first time.  He certainly does not look like our grandson, but we all know that facial expressions can change.  The great-granddaughter played shy for most of the visit, but the baby was happy and smiling and laughing the entire time.  As we were leaving, the great-granddaughter ran to me and wanted me to hold her and hug on her.  Bentley, the dog, loves me more than any of them - lol - grandma always gives him individual attention and he thrives on it.  The visit went well.  At one point the DIL (yes, THAT one) said something and hubby was ready to retort a rude comment (I know he was, he had that look!) and I looked at him and he caught me eye of warning to keep his mouth shut.  And he did.  She saw me look 'the look' at him as well.  He kept fairly quiet after that.  I know what he was wanting to do.  And I wasn't having it.  It wasn't necessary.  So overall, the visit went well with the CONSTANT apologizing from the DIL who was holding the great-granddaughter - "I'm sorry, she is just so shy in the beginning...."  Ok - all kids are when they aren't around people they don't know.  DUH.  They had the movie 'Gifted' on (I think that is the name of it).  I have seen bits and pieces of it before - and I want to watch the entire movie.  He says it is on Tubi now.

We stopped at One Nutrition for a 'Sugar Free Butterfinger Shake' (I know my middle son would love these!) for our 'lunch' and headed back home.  I went back to finding music for today, and hubby... I forget what he did.

Matthew 7:13-14 (NKJV):  Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.  Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

We may think we are on the 'narrow road' at times when we deny ourselves things, but are we really?  Being a Christ-follower is not necessarily being perfect, not ever doing anything wrong, but recognizing our wrongs an asking forgiveness and seeking to walk as Jesus walked.  He was without sin.  When we confess our sins to Him, and ask for forgiveness, in His mercy and grace, He gives it to us, and wipes away our transgressions.  We should seek to enter by the narrow gate, for the narrow gate leads to Jesus.  Isn't with Him where we all want to be?  I read a book once - I think it is called The Awe of God by John Bevere - not sure of the title... I may need to find it again and read it.  In it he talked about people who believed they were going to heaven because they were 'good people'.  In it he specifically mentioned Princess Diana.  She was a good person, she did good things.  (I love reading about her)  But he was also very clear that unless she had accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and lived her life for Him (which does not appear that way), she would not go to heaven.  Just because a person is good, and does good things, means they are going to heaven.  Something to think about.

And.... I've left the best news for last.  Well, for today, it is the best news.  Our oldest granddaughter came over with her little family last night - it was so good to see them.  She and I have always had a very special relationship, as she was my 'first' Princess.  I probably spent the most time with her as she was starting to 'grow up'.  As her daughter (my great-granddaughter) and I were making brownies before they left, she commented that I was the one who taught her to love baking and cooking.  She learned some from her 'other' grandma, but I did it the most.  Now THAT warmed my heart.  You know how I love to cook and bake, and I'm thankful I have been able to pass it on to at least one of my granddaughters!  But as we were nibbling on the brownies in the kitchen, her hubby came in and she commented she had to change the t-shirt her daughter had on.  I didn't think much of it...after all, they were heading back across town and although I didn't see anything on the t-shirt, I'm still the great grandma and I try to keep my mouth shut.  Then, I was asked to look at the t-shirt the great-granddaughter had on.  I bent over to read it and it took a few seconds but I whipped around to look at my granddaughter with an 'ARE YOU?"  and she smiled and nodded - and I actually SQUEALED LIKE A PIG!  Jumping up to give her and her hubby a hug I was so excited!  (and still am!)

They went in to the other room where hubby was and asked him to read the t-shirt.  He read it out loud.  Then we asked him to read it again.  We kept asking him 'what did it say' and finally it soaked in and he realized it - WE HAVE A GREAT-GRANDCHILD ON THE WAY!! Whoo Hoo!!

My heart is full.  I am so excited for them.  Oh, I mentioned something about answers to prayers earlier?  I have known they wanted another baby.  And I didn't any thing about the thought that came in to my mind when I heard the great news.  It was the thought of 'for this you have prayed'.  Now mind you, I do not recall specifically praying for another baby in this family, but knowing the desire for one, it is possible.. when I sit down before God and pray in the mornings, I go through each of the families by name and pray over them and pray whatever comes to mind.  I COULD HAVE prayed for a baby.  It SEEMS like I have prayed that my granddaughter's body would be prepared to receive a new baby... and I know she loves babies... I am pretty sure I prayed.... I just don't remember specifically praying for a baby... and it doesn't matter.  God answered THEIR prayers for a baby and now my prayers will be a good pregnancy and a healthy baby.  I am so excited and as I sit and think about it, I am feeling so blessed we can have another great-grandchild and this granddaughter I love so much will be a mommy again.

And, I need to get the body moving this morning and in the shower.  Plus I need to change the font on the words to the songs.  So with that - I'll hush for now.  So until tomorrow - have a blessed day and be a blessing to someone.

Blessings!
