Proper Priorities

I read in a favorite devotional this morning - Secrets of the Secret Place by Bob Sorge - the chapter about "The Secret of Intimacy First".  Hmmm, what does that mean? you may ask.  As I read what Bob Sorge wrote, I can understand the pain he felt within when the Lord took away his ministry for awhile.  My heart cries out to serve the Lord with all my heart, soul, mind and strength - and time - and yet, what I find I desire is not what His desire is for me at this time.   So the question arises - do I desire to 'do ministry full time' more than I desire to have Jesus active in my life?  More than to have an intimate relationship with Him?   I find I can honestly say 'no'.  If I should never preach again, if I could never serve in His name again, if I am never used by Him again - I would give those things up to have that personal, intimate, and loving relationship with Jesus that I love and live for.  When I accepted Jesus into my heart many years ago, I chose to serve the One who loves me more than I could ever love anyone or anything.  He laid His life down for me.  He gave everything up for me. If I was the only person in the world, He still would have done it - for me.

And he did it for you.   Give some thought to this - what are you putting before your relationship with Jesus?  Do you get up in the morning and rush through your day with only a quick "'bless me' or 'help me' today Lord" prayer or read your 'scripture of the day' and think it will get you through - or listen to Christian music on the radio on your way to work and think that will help?   Is your job more important than your relationship with Jesus?  Are your daily activities - though they are good things - more important than taking time to lavish some love upon Him who loves you more than you can ever imagine?

What if ..... this moment, as you are reading this, you sit back and think about when was the last time you gave Jesus and/or our Heavenly Father, your undivided attention and just loved Him?   When was the last time you put Him first and told Him all you want is Him?  Not what He can give you, but you just want Him.  He's waiting for you.  Do you have time to make a personal relationship with Him a priority in your life?  My prayer is that you will want that personal, loving, fulfilling relationship more than anything else.

Blessings!
