Too much dinner! and other ramblings.

Hubby had gotten a Chili's giftcard from the youngest for Father's Day so he asked that we go out last night for dinner.  So we went - and what a great experience it was!  We went to Chili's at around 77th Ave & Bell about 4:15PM .... and the atmosphere and people were a lot better than the times we had gone to Metro Chili's.  Service at Metro had been so-so... people friendly, but not overly so.... service ok.  We could not believe the service last night!  Of course they use ipads now to take orders so it immediately goes into the kitchen.  We both requested water (to start) while we looked over the menu.  It's been a few years since we had been there and I had no idea as to what to get.  Last two times was when we took the grandson out for his birthday... only last year when we expected to go... he wanted Weinersnitzel!  Anyway... before we knew it, a young man came out and brought our water.  Brittany, our waitress, gave us a few minutes to look over the menu.

Hubby wanted shrimp tacos; I opted for chicken fajitas... she mentioned that on the back they had 3 in 1 versus what I was ordering. I looked and I could get a drink (soda, tea, etc) plus a side (chips & salsa, side salad, something else), and then the chicken fajitas.  I opted to get a diet coke and chips and salsa, and the chicken fajitas.  I was totally blown away!  She took our order, went to the next table, and this guy comes out with this HUGE plate of salsa and chips. Then my soda comes.  Then our food comes, and hubby orders a soda as well.  Brittany is on top of it all, always checking if we need anything, brought us new drinks before we were half done and said if we wanted, she could put what we didn't drink in a to go cup!

Hubby got 3 big shrimp tacos and other things with it.  He said they were twice as big as the fish tacos he has gotten elsewhere.  MY chicken fajitas - wow.  They bring out a tray that has guac, chopped tomatoes, sour cream, cheese, salasa on it... and 4 tortillas rolled up in aluminum foil.  THEN they bring out the chicken fajitas!  A.lot.of.food. for me! One large piece of chicken and lots of onions and peppers.  Plus beans.  And they were steaming hot!  All in all, our dinner was way more than either of us expected and our waitress was exceptional.  She said that she works a lot of hours and if we come back, just ask for her and she will be happy to serve us.  Needless to say, we gave her a big tip and a great review.  She was really good and we will go back - the food was delicious!  And for the two of us, before tip, the cost was only $26.49.  Not bad at all!

It was a boring day somewhat yesterday as I didn't have that much to do.  Ok, I could have figured out the board minutes, but didn't think about it until during the night cause I couldn't sleep.  I started a new crochet piece yesterday afternoon with scraps of yarn.  I kind of like it - it's all different colors crochet'd together.  And I'm using up my yarn scaps.  Today though I need to see about those minutes.  I ordered a Microsoft 365 book for beginners which arrived yesterday from Amazon.  I do not know how to use One Drive.  I do not know how to use One Note.  I don't know how to use a lot of the new programs.  Nor do I want to learn.  But that is where the minutes go - in One Drive.  I don't know how to start or stop a recording in Teams.  If I was in the office, I could ask another admin how to access them.   I.really.do.not.want.to.learn and if hubby would give me the go-ahead, I'd retire now!  But, he won't.  He is fearful without my income.  And it is nice, I admit, to be able to buy what I want when I want (as a rule) and not worry where the money is coming from.  I spent many many years of this marriage under that burden in the other house.  So grateful we moved and took the money we made to pay off bills.  For the first time ever, I'm not worried about paying our bills.  Thank you, Jesus!  It does make life a lot better to not have a money burden hanging over you.

Anyway, I will be going through the book today (and other days) to learn how to use these programs.  At least the One Drive since I need to put the minutes there after I get them on the proper form.  My friend who took the minutes in my absence, just typed them on a piece of paper.  I really do not like doing minutes and have told this boss that having to take minutes is enough to make me want to retire.  He gets scared.  As he should.  HAH!  I hope the book will make it plain to me how to do these things.  When the mind is set against learning it, it makes it a lot harder to understand.  Yeah, I'm there.  We've had Microsoft 365 for some time now... this new boss of mine - a young whipper snapper in his 30's - is the only one that is using it that I support.  So he is making me learn how to do it.

I made reservations without checking first and now I need to cancel and figure something else out.  I want to go see our granddaughter and family south of us.  I made reservations at the hotel for a Thursday-Saturday stay in two weeks.  I knew her hubby has been out of country on business for awhile and didn't know if he would be back or not.  Well, I contacted her last night and she thinks he comes home that weekend.  And I will not interfere with his homecoming and being with his family.  They are priority.  So I need to cancel my reservations and see when I can figure out another time to go.  I thought going during the work week would be ok, but he may be coming home that Friday.  I'm glad he's coming home and we can always reschedule.  I'll have to see what is going on the following week and if I can take off work.  Oh well, I made the effort... perhaps I can find another time soon to go down.

We are taking the week of August 15th to head to an airbnb we rented in Star Valley.  Hubby is insisting we go so guess we will.  I will be driving as we need an SUV for the dirt roads that are chiseled in the dirt.  He isn't 'allowed' to drive my vehicle so I get to drive.  End of story.  I don't drive his car, he doesn't drive mine.  Although he'd love to!  But he never has let me drive his cars over the years.  And I don't want to.  I'm happy with mine and I want to keep it nice so he is told he can't drive it.  When I let him the first time, he always takes it over.

So glad this is Friday and I'm off for a long weekend.  Guess we will be going to the daughter's for a swim on Monday.  It will be nice to play some and not just sit at home.  Would love to go south this weekend, but hubby has a fit over the holidays and traffic.  It's been a hard week in some respects.  With being gone for a week and coming back, and then all the turmoil that my little sister has put me through, and just thinking about my older sister... it has made the week a bit more difficult.  It's been at least a day since I've talked to the little sister... I did text her yesterday and tried to call, but no response.  And that's ok.  I'm not going to keep calling.  She has my number if she wants to chat.

I've been chewing myself out this morning because I remember feeling so full of energy and alive last week when I was 'physically working'... and this week I have felt the depression of doing nothing fall back upon me.  It's been quite the realization that I need to be physically active to feel good and feel I have some energy.  This sitting in front of a computer all day and then after dinner sitting on the couch and watching movies until bedtime has to stop.  I must fit some movement time in there somewhere!  It has really hit home this morning.  Before I started this 'note', I was thinking about how tired I feel.  It's not from work, it's from depression I have no life.  I need to move.  AND, since I have to pay half of the money for the rec center (yes, hubby brought it up that since I didn't have to pay for the roof, could I pay for the rec center - said I'd pay half)  - I really should GO TO THE REC CENTER!   I think they may have a theatre in one of them too - need to dig out the papers and see exactly what each rec center has.  What we pay yearly is to cover it all.  Pickleball, bowling, shuffleboard, workout, pool, and more.  Each rec center is a little different.  For example, the one north of us has a quarter mile walking track.  Don't think the others do.  The big one south of us that we have gone to, has a huge maze pool AND a lap pool - and lots of chairs to sit in around the pool.  Haven't done any of that yet.  Well, the workout room, but that's it.  Need to find something and just make myself (and hubby) do it.  I don't want to become old and frail which is what will happen if I don't build up my bones and muscles!  I have a life to live!

And now I'm rambling about nothing so will hush.  Had another sinus headache this morning so got up about 2AM... tried to sleep in my chair but don't that think was too successful.  I may have to take a lunch nap today.

Until tomorrow, maybe I can think of something useful to write.  Today... I'm still sleepy.

Blessings!
