It's already been a crazy morning. I slept at least another hour this morning after I got up and sat in my chair. I could not stay awake. Last night I was exhausted. I finished up work yesterday (and after having about 6 phone calls from Ms. Amy about things) I was tired, but I was also hungry, having skipped a couple meals - and donating blood yesterday morning (on a whim and they had an opening). So I treated hubby to Black Angus Steakhouse. Yeah, it cost me 3xmore than I like to spend, but it's ok - the food was good and we did bring home leftovers which he can have for lunch today. We both got a New York Strip steak (which I normally go with chicken, but steak sounded good) and it was cooked perfectly and seasoned very well. And the dessert? OH MY. I let our 'hostess' choose for us and she chose a 'mile high ice cream something or other' - It was a 4-6" (I cannot measure in my mind) high slice of goodness. Ice cream, with lots of chocolate and chocolate chips and almonds and I don't know what all - but it was delicious - and in spite of how full we both were - we ate it all. And then I was in a food stupor.
I meant to go to church last night, but needed to close my eyes for 10 minutes... and must have dozed off for it was too late to go when I opened them again. Struggled to stay awake for another hour and finally went to bed. Still feeling full, thought I'd have trouble laying down - but did not. Slept good, I think, but this morning exhaustion overwhelmed me again and I slep a good hour in here.
Nothing happened on the decision that was to have been made yesterday and it has still been weighing on my heart and mind this morning. Hopefully we will know the verdict today - I have been praying so hard that 1) this person will have a 'wake up call' and that 2) they will be shown grace today. So we continue to pray 'grace, grace'.
As I sat here this morning I kept hearing my work computer ding and knew that someone was sending me Teams messages. I hadn't turned my computer off so jumped on it to see - and it was my boss. She got jury duty today and was telling me she has to drive downtown today to go to court. Another thing to pray for - that she doesn't get called to serve. She's a nurse, so it will depend on what the case is as well. Hopefully they will get enough people before she gets called in. And that accounts for my title today - I jumped up to get on the computer to see who was texting me to do what. I know my other boss sent me several messages last night but I didn't read them. 4PM and I try to get off the computer. I may start changing my hours to 7:30-4:30 so that I can eliminate some of that work and not face it first thing in the morning - and can go for a short walk in the mornings. Naw. I like my 7AM-4PM shift.
"Hard times are a passport that gives you permission to go places you wouldn't get to any other way." (Levi Lusko in his book Through the Eyes of a Lion)
We all have probably gone through hard times - it could be medical, physical, mental, financial, - it could be any hard time. But have we grown through them. Have we learned from those hard times. Have we helped others in that hard time?
It's an intersting thought, isn't it, that our hard times can be a help to others? When we are grieving, are we reaching out to others who may also be grieving and encuraging them through just being there for them? Are we struggling financially and yet hear of someone who needs just a little bit of help - do we offer to help even though we need it ourselves? Do we rob ourselves of blessing others because of our own greediness? I get it; sometimes you just can't. You have nothing to give. You are empty. Emotionally, physically, financially - there is nothing. But you can still be there.
Sometimes, just sometimes, there are people who reach out (like Ms. Amy) who are just lonely and need others to reach back. Yesterday was a trying day with her, for sure. She has told me that she may be moving the first week of June to Florida to be near her girls. But in the meantime, she still has her place here. Two of her daughters are coming out next week and she is making calls to get Cox out to install cable for her daughter; a plumber out to take care of other things; and guess who she calls to 'be aware' or like today, go pick her up at the assisted living and bring her back to the house so that she can oversee things. At least I don't have to sit there and wait on Cox to arrive; she can do that. All I need to do is go get her and take her back.
Hmmmm.... the landscapers are outside and I hear hubby out talking to them. I wonder if he is FINALLY discussing the tree in front of our house - he has driving me crazy cause they did such a crappy job on our trees here - I would never recommend this landscaper - our grass looks horrible and our trees - even after they 'trimmed' them - look horrible. Oh well - off topic!
And now I need to get on my work computer, get dressed, and start my workday. Hope your morning is going a bit better than mine has started. I should never have allowed myself to nap!
Blessings!
