A little update.... hubby did test postive for COVID last Wednesday evening when he went to the urgent care. As I mentioned in my last post, his lungs were clear, and other than the coughing, which had been daily dropping, he had not experienced any symptoms. Could it be it really was just a cold and something triggered a COVID diagnosis or did he really have a mild case? Regardless, he has stayed in until last night when he met his friends for their Bible study. It had been 11 days since he first started coughing. The coughing is rare now and he has not had a fever since the first Monday evening. So life will be turning pretty much back to normal around here. Other than a couple nights I have slept very well in this other bedroom; I can flip flop all over the bed if I can't sleep - no worries about waking him up - and if I am awake, I can get up and read as this is also my quiet time/office room. But he did ask me last night when did I plan to come back to our bed.... and I told him by this weekend I will come back in. Let's make sure he's over it, right?
The wedding plans are coming along and the granddaughter is very busy making her 'things' for the wedding. She will have two ringbearers - nephews of the groom to be. So last night I finally got out in two weeks and went to my daughter's - and sewed the pillows together. The granddaughter had crochet'd a top for the pillows and wanted them sewed on one side - that was my job. It only took me about 3 hours, but I did get it done - yes, stitched it by hand. We are down to 11 days until the wedding. She is so looking forward to having family there to help her celebrate her special day. Our family gathering will be small as most live out of state and won't make the trip, but his side will be a lot larger, from what I hear. Some family, like her favorite uncle, she hasn't seen in quite a while. My little sister was wanting to come out but it has now been decided she and her hubby will not be coming out after all.
Hubby and I are sticking with our goal of reading our Bibles morning and evening. I actually am enjoying it and reading my Bible at night, before I go to bed, has helped me relax and sleep, I feel. I don't know what hubby is reading, but I'm reading the New Testament in one version in the mornings, and the Old Testament in another version in the evenings. It would really be cool if I could read through the Bible twice in one year by doing this, but I think I'm not reading enough to be able to do that. But it gives me a goal and I am getting new insights by reading the two different versions. One version I have read through two or three times (NKJV) and one I haven't (ESV). I love it when the story comes alive in a different way. Right now I'm in the story of Joseph and he is the 2nd in command in Egypt, and his brothers have returned from Canaan to buy more food, but this time had to bring their youngest brother Benjamin with them. Joseph is getting ready to reveal to his brothers that he is the brother they had sold as a slave at age 17 to travelers. Joseph is now 30. See how interesting the story is? What happens when he reveals himself to them? Do you remember? The story is in Genesis.
So did you challenge yourself at all at the start of this new year? Did you set any goals? My exercise routine definitely has not taken off yet; been staying in for pretty much the past couple weeks due to hubby and the possibility it could pass to me. Thank God it has not and I have been fine. We are doing well on our fast, if one can say that. Today is my day to skip breakfast and lunch, and then hubby and I will eat together tonight. God has been good that I haven't been tempted to give it up. Sometimes a fast is hard, and I've had my difficulties in figuring out what to fix, but overall, I've managed to keep us both in line with what we have chosen to give up. Spending extra time with God and reading His Word is going well too.
I have no doubt that God hears our prayers and some day our prayer requests will be answered. I have faith that they will. But the answers do not always come in my timing, but in His. And I'm grateful for that, cause sometimes my timing for answers to my prayers is way off! His timing is always best. Granted, I don't always get the answers I want either. I have to believe that God is still in control and in His time all things will work out.
In fact, that reminds me of a song we sang years ago in church.... do you remember it?
"In His time, In His time. He makes all things beautiful, in His time. Lord, please show me everyday, as You're teaching me Your way, that You do just what You say, in Your time.
In Your time, in Your time. You make all things beautiful, in Your time. Lord, my life to You I bring, may each song I have to sing, be to You a lovely thing, in Your time.
Lord, please show me every day, as You're teaching me Your way, that You do just what You say, in Your time."
And He does. Every day is beautiful when we release the day to Him before it even starts. I challenge you to try that - offer your will to Him; offer your day to Him, and ask Him to take control of it. Just what could happen......
Blessings!
