because I wanted to. Yes, I did wake up around my usual time, but I came in here and have dozed off and on for the past couple of hours. Hubby has gone to the men's breakfast at church so, in looking at the clock, after my Bible reading this morning, and writing here, I still have about an hour before he will be back. Enjoying the quiet morning.
Originally, when hubby told me he was going to the breakfast this morning, my first thought was "I can get on the treadmill and walk a couple miles or more before he gets back!" But, alas, here I still sit and getting on the treadmill isn't drawing me that direction. Shoot, I'm not even dressed yet! I may just sit here and read, still in my jammies, and enjoy the quiet and being alone. The atmosphere changes when one is alone, have you noticed?
(erase erase) Yep - it's taking me awhile to get this written this morning. I need to be wrapping this up quickly as hubby will be back from his breakfast soon. I've gotten dressed; grabbed a juice; checked on the plants outside.... just enjoying the quiet and peacefulness of the morning.
Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
Being alone this morning for even this short time, I am reminded of this verse. There is just something about being still....
Have you tried it lately? Take a moment right now and close your computer or cell phone. Get alone by yourself. Close your eyes to avoid distractions (don't fall asleep!), and just be still. Hear the birds as they sing; hear the silence about you.
Do you feel the peace? Do you feel the quietness - so quiet that you really don't want to disturb it?
Ah... these are the special moments that we let pass by us frequently. I think they actually call it 'mindfulness' now on many apps.
But take the moment.... sit quietly.... and give yourself rest for your soul.
Blessings!
