I overslept - truly overslept! - this morning - slept until 5:45AM - which is totally unusual, even though I have slept late a few times lately. My watch was buzzing since 4AM and I didn't even feel it, that is how deep I was sleeping! Hubby didn't wake up until 6AM! And we went to bed around 9PM last night. Could it be I moved the light of his clock away from the bed, which darkened the room a bit, and also he (shocker!) on his own, turned down the thermostat to 73 degrees last night. We both slept deep and slept good. I guess we both needed it as well.
So with that news, I am typing this from my work computer, since I didn't have time to 'chat' with you this morning. Yeah, I was running short on 'me' time and needed to do a shower and wash my hair today as well. Got it all done, and here I am.
I finally gave in the other day and called the podiatrist for my foot. My middle toe is now swollen and all around the three middle toes on the top of my foot is red and still burning. It's about a 3" area so figured it was a need to be seen. That middle toe almost seems totally numb today. I'm wondering if there is inflammation in that area. Got a 1:50PM appointment two days after I called; and grabbed it when offered. But in doing so, it is my loss. Got a text from my oldest son about lunch. Dang! Would have loved to go!
Been really busy this morning with work and still have some meetings to figure out - about 6 or so of them. I'll get to them soon. I DO have my priorities, right? Unless someone needs something right away! Got my W-2 from work today, guess it is also time to start pulling our tax information together. Wish the no taxes for seniors would happen. I'd gladly claim to be a senior!
Girl Scout cookie orders are now available, and I did my part in supporting our little great-princess! I asked her mama to keep ours there and over the next month we will try to connect - either us go there or if they come up here. Will wait to hear when she has the cookies and then will see what we can do. Son and DILove may go down as well so they could get my cookies.... I think I ordered one of each with an extra mint and trefoil - and was glad to be able to 'donate' one box. We don't need the cookies, but when we have guests for our bible study, it will be nice to have to put out. If they last that long. Mints and Trefoils and the peanut butter ones and the, and the,... yeah, they may not last long.
Got to get back to walking my 10K steps daily - at least once I find out about my foot! I can - and have - gotten on my trampoline rebounder for a few minutes this week. Used some of my weights too, but not to a great level. And Morgan comes back to work the first part of February and I will be struggling to get back where I was at strength-wise, I'm sure. As will hubby. Neither of us have gone to the gym, although he actually says he is going - but doesn't. I don't bother to even say I'm going! This is my 'rest' time, as far as I'm concerned. We will be 3x a week for awhile after Morgan comes back as we bought the extra trainings. I will be checking out of work early or late, depending on the time she gives me. I have a feeling most will be at 7AM - and that's ok - I'll just have to do this during work breaks, right? Like I am doing today.
I was listening to Mercedes Sparks yesterday on Facebook (yeah, caught me, didn't you?) (I still am trying to stay off of it; I lose too much time watching those stupid reels or reading the stories - they catch my attention and then I have to read them - which takes at least 20 minutes with all the scrolling - right?) Anyway....
2 Samuel 2:11:1-5 (NKJV): It happened in the spring of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the people of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem. Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king's house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold. So David sent and inquired about the woman. And someone said, "Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite? Then David sent messengers, and took her; and she came to him, and he lay with her, for she was cleaned from her impurity; and she returned to her house. And the woman conceived; so she sent and told David, and said, "I am with child."
Mercedes made this observation. It doesn't say Bathsheba was on the roof bathing, for all the world to see. But DAVID, he was on HIS roof walking around, at a time when kings go out to battle. He got lazy and complacent, and he did not go to battle, but sent everyone else. In his boredom, he is up walking around on HIS roof, and checks out the surrounding buildings, and sees Bathsheba bathing. Then, being an observant man, he decided he wanted to do more than 'watch' her, he wanted her. He called for her (could she refuse the king's order? Was she taken from her home to go to the king?) It says 'David took her'. Did she come unwillingly? She was brought to him and he lay with her. Then he was done with her and sent her home. A one-night stand at that time. But when she sent and told David she was with child, that changed everything. And I'll stop there. Pick up your bible and read 2 Samuel 11 and read all about it.
But the point is, for years we have heard this story and the story is always told 'Bathsheba was on the roof bathing'. The bible doesn't say Bathsheba was on the roof bathing. It says the king was on his roof walking around. I hadn't really thought much about it, I admit. In my mind, Bathsheba was bathing in plain sight of the king. But she wasn't. They really didn't have 'windows' back then, could she have been in an area that had a small pool that she was able to go into? I'm sure they didn't have bathtubs, but a small pool in which to bathe? Interesting to think about, to say the least. Be careful of what people repeat from the bible - read it yourself and interpret your thought on it so that you know what the bible says and not lean on someone else's interpretation of it.
Don't just trust your idea of God - anchor your heart in who He truly is, even when it doesn't make sense. (X Messenger - John Bevere)
Don't just trust your first read of the bible - read commentaries and other people's comments and dig into the Word and make your own interpretation.
