Yesterday afternoon things got crazy with work. My male boss, who leaves this afternoon on PTO - seemed to think that he 'all of a sudden' needed meetings before he left - so that kept me busy. Then I found out my oldest son was being admitted to the hospital after already going for a paracentesis in the ER. We already had a commitment that evening. And my son wanted tea. What mother wouldn't go get tea for her son if he asked her for it? So we went to our commitment, but then explained that we had to leave before it even got started. And we left, swung by McDonald's to pick up a sweet tea, and headed for the hospital.
Son shared he was still in the ER. Then, as we search for a parking spot and finally having to use the parking garage, we find out they are moving him to a room. The wife was going to meet us at the door of ER to get the sweet tea. I tried to give my son a 'hard time' that we were not dropping the tea off, we were going to visit! I'm sure his mind said "whatever!" LOL And that was our intent. But by the time we got to the ER, and met the wife, he was being moved to his room.
We drive the wife to the main entrance since she didn't think she could go through the ER to his room, and as we watched, she paused and then returned to the car. We took her back to the ER to go through that way as the main entrance was closed. By then we had decided for sure that we were not going to go up but allow the wife to take the sweet tea. Dropping her off at the ER and watching her go in, we left and headed home.
Son is to undergo a thoracentesis today at 8AM. My plan to is to head that way around lunchtime if he is still there. Or early afternoon. I thought I'd go late afternoon, but after I said that yesterday, I remembered I have a 5PM dental appointment to have two crowns removed and a build-up of the gum line. So lunchtime might be it - and I can pick him up real food if he is interested. Will check on him later in the morning.
So here we are with Thursday and this morning will be extremely busy as my male boss has been busy sending me emails to schedule meetings. Will be glad when he finally shuts the computer off mid-day and leaves. Tomorrow should be easy enough with him gone. Hopefully, anyway.
I do have the message to finish up for Sunday. I got about 4 pages cleaned up the other night, but didn't even look at it yesterday. I may be working on it tonight for awhile. I always feel better when it's totally done by Friday and I can just read it over a few times on Saturday and early Sunday mornings before I actually deliver it. I still need to get an 'ending' for it - right now everything is 'hanging'. God will provide.
I let hubby know already that on Tuesday I will have numerous packages arriving from Amazon. The majority are Christmas gifts, and there are lots. I don't know if I will have any time to get started on it this weekend, but I've got to separate what I do have and start writing down what for whom and even if I don't get them wrapped, at least identify who I'm done with. The little ones are the easiest and I think I am done with all the little ones we got this year. They are the easiest to buy for, and need the least. A small toy for each one (I said I was cutting back, remember?) will suffice. My big kids have me baffled this year. I have no idea for any of them. Like us, if we want it, we get it. There is nothing needed.
I finally have started a 'Christmas list' for hubby on myself. Like I have said numerous times, if I want it, I get it. Since I pay for it, I don't even discuss or ask permission from hubby. But I did manage to write down a few things like Amazon gift card, several skeins of yarn (no project, I can make into donations), bright colored tennis shoes (I have lime neon green and purple that are bright). Size 8.5 if you are thinking about it. :) I have fun wearing them at the gym. I wear my neon lime green shoes when I do 'HIIT'. Anyway - at least that is a few items I've told him. Hobby Lobby or Michaels is good too - although I like Hobby Lobby better. Can always use socks for the gym - and I like fun socks to wear if they are short crew socks. Oh well, enough about Christmas. I'll give it another week to ten days and I will start dragging out my Christmas stuff for the inside of the house. No one comes to see us anyway so if I want to make my house Christmasy, who cares?! Actually, I will wait until after next week as our cleaning people come and once the house is cleaned, then I can start decorating. THEN I can wrap gifts and start putting under the trees. Got more than one tree so that I can somewhat keep the family gifts separate.
I have a song running through my head this morning. I was looking up the lyrics and came across another song that has some of the words in it. The song? Even If by Casting Crowns. I was trying to cut and paste the lyrics, but it isn't letting me. You will have to look it up and listen/read the verses. Bottom line? No matter what comes at me, it is well with my soul.
And, in my looking, I found another song that I think Bethel Music had sung. It is along the same lines, but a verse in it is 'through it all, through it all, my eyes are on You. Through it all, through it all, it is well."
Sometimes when life is coming at us from all angles it feels like there is no relief, no hope, no help..... and our faith, our belief in life and it going well, fades. We feel we are in a struggling bubble that threatens to break and drown us. And when that happens, it does us well to remember....
When peace like a river attendeth our way, Our sorrows like sea-billows roll, Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say, It is well, it is well, with my soul.
My sin - oh, the bliss of this glorious thought - My sin - not in part, but the whole, is nailed to the cross and I bear it no more, Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, Oh my soul!
And, Lord, hasten the day when the faith shall be sight, The clouds be rolled back as a scroll. The trump shall resound and the Lord shall descend, "Even so" - it is well with my soul!
It is well, with my soul. It is well, it is well, with my soul!
These original words of the song were written by a man many, many years ago who lost 4 daughters at sea. He lost all his finances in the Chicago fire, sent his wife and 4 daughters on a trip to get them away from it all and he was going to join them shortly. That ship sunk and his four daughters died. His wife made it and sent a telegram "arrived alone". When he got on a ship to meet her, he asked the captain to let him know where in this mighty ocean did that ship go down. And a man drawn by his grief, stood and looked at that spot, and wrote the words to the above song, in his deepest grief.
Can we say that no matter what we are going through, "It is well with my soul"? I pray that I can always say that. Life is short. We don't know when it will end. If we know where we are going, then we can look with joy toward what is ahead. Only then can it be truly, 'well with our soul'.
May it always be so. Today, I can say, it is well with my soul. Can you?
Blessings!
