Vacation begins!

and I'm so ready!  Hubby has now left for his Bible study this morning and I am currently alone.  Just finished up my quiet time and after I finish this, time for a shower and to start packing the suitcase. I have pretty much all my clothes laid out on the bed so that all I need to do is put in the suitcase - they are even already folded!  Not that I was 'ready' to go last night!  I just don't want to feel rushed and perhaps forget something - which I probably will anyway.  And yes, I plan to take this computer along with my work computer (have some invoices to process that won't come in until late this afternoon).  I 'think' they will have wifi in the cabin... if not, I may have to go somewhere public - which is risky - but I gotta do what I gotta do.

Work pressure did slow down yesterday as I completed specific tasks.  I did leave one meeting; just didn't want to deal with it.  I made a note to check it first thing when I get back to work in a week and finish it up.  Speaking of notes... I sat down for a few minutes before bed last night and started writing out a list of things to do before we left, what I didn't want to forget to pack, etc.  I filled up the page!  Good grief!  But it is things like phone cord, watch cord, comptuer cord, etc. - things I normally don't do anything with.  Then there are things I want to do before I leave - i.e., water my plant that hubby never checks, empty the trash out of the house, grab my protein and fruit so that I can have a shake for breakfast if I want (and get hubby's too)  - like I said, I'm not wanting to cook throughout all the time we are away - afterall, it is MY vacation too, right?   But I am too cheap to eat out every meal too.  So shakes for breakfast and maybe I'll cook bacon and eggs and toast one day. Or two.  I don't want to spend a lot of money on food.

I thought about going to the grocery yesterday and hubby grumbled we can stop enroute and pick up.  Whatever.  We will buy mainly junk food anyway.  Chips, etc.  Things I try not to buy to keep at home because I want to lose weight and not gain it.  But limon chips are my favorite.  Just saying.  And cheetos.  I need to fill up my gas tank too as I am driving on this trip.  Told hubby either I drive or we don't go. I got to drive last year and we survived.  You should see how he over-reacts when I drive though!  LOL  A half-block away and he's grabbing the dash as I come upon a red light or stop sign.  Wah. Get over it. I'm still driving.

Ok - just erased some stuff... but basics are the wills and trust papers are in the safety deposit box at the joint bank not far from here... and I have a key in my jewelry stand.  Although I may have a copy in the blue box under the bed.... not sure.  Yeah, more than likely nothing will happen, and we will pray as we leave that God will cover us with His hand and protect us and our vehicle and bring us back home safely.  And He usually does.

I got a text from my little brother yesterday that his 63 year old son-in-law had a heart attack and died yesterday morning.  To my knowledge, he had not been sick. He just woke up at 4AM with chest pain. I think I only met him twice in all these years.  But... my brother made me cry when he text'd these words... "Amanda called me a little bit ago asking me how to say goodbye. I had zero answers."   I cannot imagine the depth of pain she must feel.  The fear of the unknown ahead of her.  My heart breaks for her, and although she doesn't like me, I still love and care for her.  We never know what each day will hold.  I'm sure her husband didn't plan to die yesterday.  I can only pray that Amanda will somehow find peace in her future. I know she will miss him terribly as they have been together for years.  He was also her fishing buddy every time she went to her dad's.

Appeciate your prayers for travel mercies as we head out - probably around 11am or so.... I think it is about a 3 hour drive.  Hubby wants to stop for lunch on the way... so I reminded him there is a white castle in Fountain Hills....  will see if we can drive by it or if it will be out of the way.  I think it is near the freeway, if my memory serves me right.  Or I could just tell Siri "White Casttles in Fountain Hills" - I wonder if that would do it.   We do not plan to return until Wednesday afternoon.... and then may take off again on Thursday morning.  Will play that by ear.  I may be too weary of 24x7 (you know what I mean) constant and come hibernate in this room when we get home. LOL

But - I do need to jump in the shower and get started on my packing.  Hubby will be in a tizzy to get his things put together when he gets back in a couple hours.  At least he will be eating a big breakfast so will not have to eat right away before we leave.  It feels good not to jump on the work computer this morning - some day I will make that permanent.

So with that - hope that you have an amazing day and that you will not only receiving blessings today, but that you will be a blessing.

Blessings!
