Another long-short week is almost over....

This has been a four day week with being off work on Monday - and yet, ever since Tuesday, it's felt like Friday.  But then, Monday felt like Saturday.  I'm all mixed up on my days and I have to look at my calendar to see if I need to work.  Yeah, today I need to work - but it IS Friday!  Finally! I think my feeling the days are mixed up is because the week before I only worked 3 days with having that Monday-Tuesday off at Jailbreak.  So I worked 3 days last week; then 3 days off work, then work 4 days this week.  Next week is going to be a 'killer' with 5 days of having to sit in front of the computer!

Today is a granddaughter's 25th (I think) birthday.  It's hard to keep up on how old they are.  But I can remember specifics about when they were born.  How precious they were as newborn babies, and how precious they are now.

This one, though, God let me be a part of her birth.  I'm sure that some time over the years I have been doing this blog I have shared this, but I don't want to ever forget how loving and kind our Heavenly Father is.  He invites us to join Him many times in this journey of life.  And this one time, He let me join Him to bring this grandchild into the world.

We had been anxiously awaiting the time this little one would appear.  Finally, we were told my daughter was going into the hospital at midnight, if I recall correctly.  She was going to be induced shortly after being admitted.  We were going to wait until closer to time of birth to head over to the hospital so we went to bed.  We knew it would be awhile.

During the night, and today I cannot remember the time, I awoke and it was as if God was waking me to tell me to pray and pray NOW.  I started praying for my daughter, praying for this new little one who we were waiting on to come into the world.  Then I drifted back off to sleep.  We awoke at the time we had planned and got ready to go to the hospital.  We 'found' a message on the phone that our son-in-law had called during the night and we didn't hear the phone, but he said there was problems.

We quickly got to the hospital and it wasn't long before this precious child was born.  As I was cuddling her, when it was my turn, God brought the night before wake-up and prayer to my mind.  I casually shared with my daughter that I had been awakened during the night and prayed for her and this baby.  My daughter started crying, and asked what time that was.  I told her, and she shared that it was during that time every contraction she had caused the baby's heartbeat to drop and the doctor was afraid something was going on; perhaps the cord was wrapped around the baby's neck or something.  This was before ultrasounds so didn't know what was happening.  They were contemplating a c-section.

But God.  He intervened shortly after this happened, and after He woke me to pray, and the heart rate steadied and didn't drop any more.  They did not have to do a c-section, but allow the labor to progress.

God, in His infinite grace and glory, allowed me to be a part of this baby's birth by waking me to pray with Him to bring her to life.  My tears fell as did my daughter's, when I shared the goodness of God in letting me be a part.  This memory still tenderizes my heart.

I often have asked the question, what if I hadn't prayed?  What would have happened?  I don't know that answer nor do I need to know.  I know that if I hadn't prayed, I would not have seized the opportunity to be used by God.  Yes, I believe that He woke me at that precise time.  And I believe that He told me to pray for my daughter and this baby.  When God wakes you up in the night, you know it.   What a testimony of God's goodness to us!

Today this 'little one' turns 25 and has a baby of her own.  I did a lot of praying for this little one too.  Not because God woke me up to pray, (it was daytime), but because we were not allowed to be near to hear how things were going.  With COVID, no one but the spouse was allowed to be at the hospital.  And word of how this new mom-to-be was progressing wasn't coming through often enough for any of us.  There were problems, but we didn't know about them until after the fact.  Another miracle of life, a new great-granddaughter for us was born six months ago.

So today I pray blessings upon this granddaughter.  I pray that God will turn her heart back to Him so that our joy will be complete. I pray that today will be a good day for her and that she will feel loved. Happy birthday, Princess.

And, today being Friday, means I also have to work today.  I hear hubby getting dressed.... he may work today. (smile).  He doesn't have Bible study this morning.  We bought plants last MONDAY.  He borrowed shovels on TUESDAY to dig holes to plant them.  WEDNESDAY he got one hole dug half-way.  TODAY he plans to do all seven plants and dig the holes and get them into the ground.  It's nearly 6AM.  He needs to do this BEFORE the sun gets up and hot.  He won't let me do it - something about underground irrigation wires, etc. that COULD be in the flower bed.  Oh, by the way, the flowers are nearly dead in the pots now.  Oh well, I can hope they can be revived... or if their time of bloom is over, that they will come back next year.  We certainly don't need to rush to get any of them in the ground, right?  sigh.....

And our son-in-law is having shoulder surgery this morning.  I pray for him as well, that God will guide the surgeons who will see what is wrong and will repair it easily.  Their hands will be steady, their direction sure.  And healing in this shoulder will be quick and painless.  Ok, maybe not painless, but without much pain. (which is why he couldn't dig the holes for us, although he offered)

I have nagged at hubby long enough now he just may tell his doctor he is ready for surgery on his shoulder.  He claimed that as he started to work on the holes for the flowers that his shoulder was hurting really bad.  I finally told him "enough! get the surgery for your shoulder and quit putting it off because it's going to hurt!"  He always has to tell of two of his friends who were brave enough to have the shoulder surgery and oh they pain they had.  So he doesn't want it.  I think the final straw was when I told him "ok, go the rest of your life with shoulder pain and not being able to sleep at night (because every night it wakes him up), or deal with maybe six weeks or more of healing pain and be done with it.  Your choice!"  He has an appointment in a week or so, I think.  Will see what happens from that.

God is in all of it.  Just like He was helping my daughter give birth 25 years ago today, in putting breath into our granddaughter, to healing shoulders after surgery.  God is in our every day lives as well.  I cannot tell you how many times I pray throughout the day that God will help me complete a task, or will direct me to do something.  How many times He answers and clears my mind so that I understand.  How many times He answers prayers for my boys and for what they are doing or are going through.  For each grandchild - and great grandchild, He answers my prayers for them.

And He also answers your prayers.  He doesn't always answer the way you want Him to, but He always answers.  All you have to do is spend some time with Him.  Why not start today and just start with telling Him about how your day is going and what you need.  Ask Him to forgive you for ignoring Him and doing your own thing.  Praise Him for His goodness, faithfulness, and mercy to you.  Thank Him for what He is going to do in your life, in your family.  God is good, all the time.  And all the time, God is good.

Blessings!
