Some things just make me smile.....

When I get in to work each morning there are two reports that I must sent out first thing. I started to write "immediately", but that isn't accurate. They just need to be sent out as soon as I can get them out. With that in mind, I come in to work, snap on my laptop to the connector, lock it in place, turn it on, key in my initial passwords to get past security. While it is processing all that, I go to the kitchen and wash the coffee pots, make two pots of coffee, get ice water for my boss, my former director, and myself. When I get back to my desk, the computer is ready and waiting on me to finishing signing in.

Once I get signed in I go looking for the two reports Corporate puts in different locations. I verify they have been updated, then save them to a folder. From there I send each report to a separate group of people. I've been trying to put a comment, or something, just to make it 'fun'. I mean, it is boring to get a report every morning with nothing to offset the boredom of receiving it. So I look up quotes or other things to make it more fun. Sometimes, like today, different ones will send a comment back to me. Many times it is 'your words make me smile every day'. Or, 'I look forward to getting your emails each morning'. THAT makes me smile, for I have been successful in touching another's life.

Today, being hUMp dAy, I decided to insert a photo of a camel. Which I did. I made sure that it's "hump" was visible. Under it I commented that it was hUMp dAy. Then I added one other statement. "Work on that task today that you need to 'get over'.'

Now that could be anything. In the job, it could be that report you need to do and just don't like doing it so it gets put off as long as you can put it off. At home it could be a chore you don't particularly like or enjoy (ironing? mopping floors? cleaning toilets?) and until it reaches epidemic stage, you leave it alone. So what does my comment mean?

It means, why don't you attack that 'hump' that is there in your life and get it out of the way! Do that report. Make that phone call. Do the ironing. Mop that floor. Visit that person. Clean that toilet. Whatever is constantly in your mind or on your list that you keep moving to the bottom, just do it!

I'm going to need to ponder that today to see what I CAN do today. No meetings this week so I have been able to get two sets of minutes already completed. I have one to go, and an organizational chart to create. Got my Visio updated yesterday so I'm ready to go on it this morning. Hoping 2010 upgrade hasn't changed much from the 2007 version I had been using. We shall see, for that is my project for today!

Tomorrow I'm working from home as hubby has cataract surgery in the morning. Not sure if I will be able to get on here as once I get back home I will need to start working. Maybe by Friday I will have something else to talk about. :-)

Today being 'hump day' I will leave you with this..... 'May the road ahead of you be full of hills and lush landscapes.' As you go up the hill, reflect on God's goodness to you. As you go down the hill, admire the beauty around you. It could be actual hills and landscapes, if you are traveling. Or, it could be the hills of life. Things are going good, you feel God's love upon you; you are traveling uphill. But on the way down the other side, life happens. Things aren't so well. Things in life hurt. You feel crushed, defeated, distracted.

STOP. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath. Let it out. Open your eyes and see what is around you. No, not physically around you, but all the angels around you, surrounding you, holding you up. Feel God's Peace, His Presence. His Strength. All these things that will help you endure the things going on around you. Remember that you will eventually head back up the hill, and you will once again, feel JOY. In the meantime, Trust in His Provision - that no matter what is going on about you, He is there. No matter how difficult life is, He is watching over you. No matter how hurt you are, He loves you. Hang on, you will be heading up again soon!

Blessings!
