Tomorrow is Christmas day - and for us Christians, we celebrate the birth of Jesus - well, what has been designated as His birthday. We also exchange gifts that we classify as "Christmas Gifts". In thinking about that, I wonder if we do that to justify the purchase of all these items. I found myself this morning at the store to pick up a couple things, and glancing over to see what else I could buy for someone - and telling myself to 'STOP IT"!!
I love to buy things and give away - and for me Christmas is another opportunity to do that. I think I like birthdays better - I can focus on one person and get them either something they want or need, versus trying to buy everyone something they want or need. Or my just having to guess. Grandchildren over last night commented they figured they were getting just clothes - so I told them that may be true since I didn't get a gift list, and if I don't get a list, I have no idea what they wanted. So one tells me that what he wants is too expensive - and when he said it was an expensive game - I told him he was absolutely right. I'm sorry I haven't been able to do much - but give me some ideas!!
I kind of like having one family at a time to open gifts with. I sometimes feel guilty when I know I have bought some a little more than others because I have no idea what to buy others. Tomorrow I have two hams out to bake - and have now found out only one family will be coming here to eat. The other family will meet us at anothers' house to exchange gifts. Which means it will be two families together. Which will make me feel bad because I had lists and it was easy to pick the little things requested up. When you can get several inexpensive things, it can seem like a lot, but it really isn't.
Yea - Poo!! UPS just stopped by with part of an order.... I'm still missing an item or two - and one that was to arrive via USPS last Friday still has not arrived. I'm getting a bit frustrated. I don't like it when things don't happen as they should - however, being the heavy mail and shipping now, I can understand why things get backlogged. I'm hoping UPS will return with another package and USPS will finally deliver the package I was to get last Friday.
Time is flying by and I need to get some things done this morning. I did get online and work for 1 1/2 hours this morning. Didn't get much done - it is harder to use my home computer when I have two screens to work off of at the office. But I'm not driving in there although it could be a consideration if I didn't have grandchildren coming over this afternoon. They are more important and this is supposed to be a holiday for me.
As you anticipate tomorrow's celebrating - however you choose to do it - I pray you will have a blessed day and will feel loved and will love others.
Christmas Blessings to You and Yours...
