Happy Birthday, America!

I love America!  Not only because of where it is where I live, but because this nation was founded on God, in Whom I believe.

Unfortunately, over the years, men and women alike have turned from God and turned to the evil one.  Whether they realize it or not.  Yes, man (and woman) had a part in turning people away from God.  It was decided that pursuing things and 'fun' was more important than pursuing God.   Making a big deal out of the wrong issues (abortion, gay rights, lies, power, political gain, wealth, alcohol, drugs, etc) took presidence over Almighty God.

Yes, many have been successful in tearing down this beautiful country that the Lord our God has given us.  They have, one by one, torn asunder the freedom we have had.  Yes, America is still touted as the 'Land of the Free', but where is that freedom?  Yes, we still can worship, we still can gather together in a place of worship.  I'm grateful for that, which many other countries do not have.

But what about freedom?  Yes, we can still do many things, but do you feel 'free'?  Do you feel like a weight is upon your shoulders because of greed?  People want more than what they need.  We have an overabundance of 'things' that tear and fall apart.  And people are still making the payments on them.  So many things, so little things of value.

Psalm 119:32 - "I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free."

People make up America.  People are America who live in this land.  It seems sometimes they work hard at trying to destroy it - claiming God is dead or not real and they can do what they want.  Woe to them!   Complacency is not of God.  Thinking being a 'good person' is all you need to be is not of God.  Commitment to God and following His commandments will bring you all you need.  Destruction of all that this country stands for and was built on will bring it down.

II Chronicles 7:14 - "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.  Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place."

Do you not think God grieves over you because of your life choices?  Do you not think you break His heart by choosing things that are not of Him?  Things that will take you away, and not take you to, Him?

God has told us to pray for Israel; but America has at times turned her back on Israel.  Do you think Katrina, the earthquakes, the tornados, the hurricanes, all the floods - do you think they are just coincidental?   Do you not feel the punishment of God for deserting Him?  For America's disobedience?

I beg of you, as you celebrate the birth of our beautiful United States of America, that you think on the principles of which the Constitution was created by our forefathers.  Surely God brought them together for such a reason.  As you gather with family and friends today, think about your principles.  Will your children follow in your footsteps or will they go their own way?  What would be your choice?

May God forgive our nation for turning away from Him.  May God protect those who's heart is fastened on Him.

May God Bless America.
