Well here I sit, at home, in front of my computer, and the internet is down, again. We have had Century Link for several years and it seemed like every time I worked from home, the internet was down to where I couldn't connect to do my work. I could do some things 'offline' but couldn't get my messages. The last time I worked from home a week or so ago, it was down. It had been up all day - and then boom! It was gone. Hubby called Century Link and was fussing at them cause I couldn't work - and who knocks on our door but a Cox Cable sales person. Hello!
Yes, we ended up signing with Cox, but hubby is a bit frustrated with them already. They were to come out Saturday - at lesat he says that is what he was told. And he waited three hours and called the sales person - who checked and told him that we weren't scheduled until Tuesday (today). Oh, let me back up. We were scheduled the first time about last Wednesday, I think. Some guy shows up (a contractor) and said that he was coming around to tell us they were out of the (whatever it is) box to install so had to reschedule us. So that was one. Not showing up on Saturday (if we were todl Saturday), well, that's two. And today. Guess what. They came out. Looked at the cable that is attached to the house and said it was old and had to be replaced. Well, that's true. Cox installed that cable twenty years ago. It is definitely old. Why would they not have already been out to get it replaced, I have no idea. Anyway. They couldn't install anything because they need to get cable installed first.
And guess what. We have a storm moving in today. It was so dark out where I work, my big boss sent me home (as I am about 27 miles away) so that I wouldn't have to drive in the storm - and it was starting to sprinkle. And here I am at home, and the internet was up when I signed on, but guess what. Good ole Century Link. It's showing our internet is down again so I can't send or get messages from work. Again. That's the reason we are switching over to Cox. Which hasn't been able to install yet. Sounds crazy, doesn't it!
Our granddaughter has gotten her contract to teach this January so am going to meet her at her classroom tonight and help her get it put together. Went last week too. Saturday we hit 4 Goodwill stores - they were 50 percent off - so we picked up 281 first grade read books for a total of $160 - which equaled out to about 56 cents a book! Not bad! She needs more too, but this is a good start. She wanted books for their "library" in their room. She is so excited about finally getting a classroom to teach.
