A bit slow......but I'm in!!

I am on vacation. A real, true, relaxing vacation. And it's nice. No plans. Doing things on the spur of the moment. Doing nothing. Eating when we feel like it. Not eating if we don't want to. No menu. Doing whatever. N I C E. I'm relaxing. And I'm enjoying this. Don't think I could get used to doing nothing, but for right now, it's nice.

We came up to Northern Arizona on Sunday for a few days of 'get away' to celebrate our 31st anniversary, which I tomorrow. Sunday we checked into the hotel and settled in. Did Cracker Barrel for dinner, and after reading for a bit, went down to sit in the spa before going to bed. Nice. Yesterday we actually used the gym downstairs. I guess you could say we were preparing for the shopping marathon that we did yesterday. Well, it wasn't THAT bad, but we did do some shopping. I got some really good deals - especially at Christopher and Banks where I picked up some tops - after the discount - for $6.49. I loved that!! Then, there was Sears, where we picked up.... hmmm, what DID we get at Sears? Oh well, whatever it was, got it for free. I had "points" on my credit card and I have the option of using them or saving them for another purchase. Heck - I use them as I get them! Oh yeah, I bought panty hose! And they weren't cheap either - but I needed some. So I got 4 pairs and got them for free. I like this type of shopping.

From there we stopped at a couple other places, ending up at Kohls. I was looking for a wide black belt. I have one that is about 20 years old - or more - but I can not find it. Obviously I do not wear it often. Anyway, I've been wanting a black belt so after refusing to pay $26 for a black belt at Sears, being told at Penneys that you can only get them online, we checked at Kohls and yes, I found some, but the one I wanted was $30!! HOWEVER, it was on sale, I forget what for, and then I got 20% off that, so I ended up buying two black belts for me - AND Tom picked out a new watch for or anniversary from me - and it was on sale PLUS I got 20% off. I think we did pretty good there. We go back today to pick up the watch as he wanted a link taken out of it. All in all, shopping was the order of the day yesterday and a lot of walking.

We grabbed Baja Fresh for dinner about 4PM and watched TV and read for the rest of the evening. Today the only thing on the agenda is going back to Kohls to pick up the watch. Oh - and we have dinner plans with friends tonight. Not sure where we will end up at for dinner, but we will meet them at their house. I think one of our plans is to do the "outside shops", which shouldn't take long. There is a mall up here, which we did yesterday, but were too tired/lazy to do the outside shops so put it off until today. We opted not to go down to the exercise room this morning so we can get our walking in there. The "outside shops" consist of Kirklands, Bed Bath and Beyond, Wildflower, Chicos, Barnes and Noble, and I'm not sure what all. We haven't gone through the shops for a long time. In fact, we haven't been up here yet this year, I don't think.

We've had difficulty getting on line up here at the hotel - hence my title. I did figure out how to do the wifi settings on the kindles so that we could read and play Words with Friends. :-) Wasn't sure if I could get my computer up and running or not. I brought it because I may need to get online because of work. It has stayed in my bag until now - and I tried - and was able to sign in on the wifi. Figured I would at least do my blog before jumping back off.

Are you kidding me? Hubby is watching the news and this guy is talking of going shopping can make you lonely. For real? LOL What in the world are people thinking? Shopping does not make me lonely - sometimes I go shopping just to get time alone. That is not the same thing. I like some alone time. I am with people all day at work. I come home and am with hubby. Or at church with other people. Sometimes I just need to be alone and process my thoughts. Not that I need it all the time, but at times it helps. What about you? Do you like your "alone time"? Do you feel a need for alone time? I've been having fun teasing my big brother, who is in Vegas this week. He keeps asking for money (in fun) and I keep having "internet problems" when he does and can't receive messages. It's been a fun couple days with that. Every once in awhile I will send a "normal message" then immediately 'darn, there it goes again - lost connection with the internet!!' LOL So fun!!

Yeah, he doesn't read my blog. I don't think he does, anyway. Heck, I think the only ones who do read it are my kids and hubby. And that's ok. For several months I have just been typing thoughts anyway. Need to get back to the purpose of what I wanted this blog for. Been through lot a stuff that hurt deeply; just haven't been able to get focused. This morning my bro tells me to "try turning the internet service on." LOL

I don't think I wrote about my birthday - perhaps I need to leave that for another time. It was a good evening with most of the family. One cool thing I got was a Mother's Legacy book so that I can write things about when I was growing up. I have looked at these and at the Grandmother ones many times - and would always walk away from them. I'm glad I have one. I wish my mother had completed the one I had given her. I have no idea what happened to it as it was years ago I gave it to her. The only history I can remember is of the stories she wrote down and mailed to me. 1918 to 2004 are a lot of years of history, many years lost because they weren't written down, weren't recorded. I hope I complete this book, and write down more, before God calls me home. Of course I have about 20 years of journals.... but most of them are so personal... things I'm going through personally, my failures and confessions, my seeking God to forgive me for things I have done, to help me have spiritual wisdom, prayers for my marriage, for each of my children, for my grandchildren. I'm still uncertain if I want others to read them.

Then the very next day after my birthday, a very special event occurred that didn't include me, but yet affects me, a little. My beautiful Princess Bethany, my first granddaughter, got engaged! Soooo exciting. I hope I get asked to help with some of the things for the wedding. My daughter in law and her mother are quite capable of doing the entire wedding, as they did for my son/daughter in laws wedding. That was 22 years ago. Hopefully things have changed. This wedding is tentatively scheduled for May, 2015, so I've heard, so there is plenty of time for preparation. I'm so happy for them.

Well, I guess I'll get off here and clean up so we can get out of here. After all, shopping is calling my name. Hope you have a good day!! I plan to - it's in the 80's up here so it's nice to be out in.

Blessings!
