Saturday running around

I slept until a little after 5AM this morning - but I did stay up until after 10PM last night - which is at least an hour and a half later than normal. But, it was Friday night - and I wanted to stay up more, but.... I went to bed. Slept pretty good all night, only waking up a few times.  Was still sleepy this morning and will probably take a nap later on in the day.  Maybe.

I have Needles of Hope this morning and will start getting ready after I type this.  I only have a couple blankets to donate so don't know if I will take them this month or wait until I have more.  They are asking for hats and scarves now, and I don't have any of those made. And, I am needing to focus on other things at the moment.

Hubby has already let me know he has a Notre Dame game at 12PM.  He always acts like he has to get my approval to watch a game - I really do not care.  But it did remind me of this couple at church and he is an avid ND fan - he worked for them for over 20 years and nearly every Sunday he is wearing a ND shirt.  Big fan, right?  I had suggested to his wife that when they play, and she doesn't want to watch, give me a call and we can go grab coffee/coke or go thrifting.  Watch her call me today and I have things to do.  I may just bail out if she does.

I have the basics of the message for November 9th, but I need to get it completely typed out and ready.  I have one week.  I got a text yesterday from someone and although the name sounded familiar, I wasn't sure who it was.  I finally opened up the text to read it was someone at the RV park who would be my layperson that Sunday and was wanting title and scripture for the message.  I told her she was too early (usually they call the Sunday before, not the Friday before the Sunday!) - but since I had it, I went ahead and gave it to her.  I'm not THAT prepared.  I usually change my mind a couple times before I make a decision - but guess I am 'stuck' with this one now.  Or not.  I can do whatever I want. :-)  I have been known to change the message that morning when it wasn't clicking.

Yesterday was Halloween, but living where we do, we had no 'visitors'.  Got to see a couple photos of two grandchildren dressed up.  I miss the days when the grandchildren would come over and I could see what they all dressed up as.  They KNEW Grandma was going to take photos.  I miss my grandchildren being young.  I have so many treasured memories with most of them, at least on the holidays if nothing else. Oh - and of course of baking cookies at Christmas time.  Now I can sometimes get a grandchild and a great grandchild to bake cookies - and this time I am opening it up also to the grandma, if she wants to come.  Still have to do separate days - and daggone it, I only have one oven.  These are the times I miss my big house with the huge island and having two ovens.

Today is November 1st.  A new month, a new beginning, and what am I going to do with it? I just saw an email that someone at work has already issued me a challenge in our wellness app.  It's double points day and I reckon I will be creating a couple challenges as well, to get points for my insurance costs.  If I reach 80K points from November 1 - August 31 this coming year, I can get $50 off my medical insurance.  (If I go with the basic, I get it free, but I go with the one where I can get the most paid).  I hit about 120K this past year.  Right now they are messing with our start and end points.  It was Jan - Dec but this year they stopped it October 31st.  (I still hit 120K in points)  I need to get working on my steps though, I've gotten lazy the past few months.  I should get up and on the treadmill or rebounder in the evening or take a break during the day - but because I don't want to have to draw pictures for someone, I just stay in my room. And I'll leave that there.

Hubby's knees are healing well.  I've gotten him to leave the bandages off for a couple days and they seem to be healing over.  Grateful it wasn't worse; he could have broken a bone when he fell.  Instead, it was 'just' rocks in his knees and hand. Thank You, Jesus.

James 3:13-14 (NLT):  If you are wise and understand God's ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with humility that comes from wisdom.  But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don't cover up the truth with boasting and lying.

Wow - that is kind of strong, isn't it?  James is a good chapter in the Bible to read - he is straightforward and just says it like it is.  But what does it mean?  Here is what Dr. David Jeremiah says....

"With this passage, James presents the dramatic contrast between earthly and heavenly wisdom. People's lives reflect the source of their wisdom. Those who have a right relationship with God are understanding and concerned for others, demonstrating the wisdom of heaven. People who are estranged from God will be sensual and selfish, reflecting the wisdom of Satan."

Pretty strong language, isn't it?  But it is a good explanation of the scripture.  We can choose to be wise with God's wisdom, or not.  How are we living - that it shows the world whose wisdom we speak of?  Something we all need to think about, for sure.

I need to get off here and start getting ready for Needles of Hope.  It will be good to be out with friends this morning and catching up on life.  Coffee, maybe a danish or breakfast sandwich, and friends.  And crochet/knitting.  Life is good. (Only gets better if I'm with my children and their families.  That's just the way I'm made.)

Hope that you have a day of rest; an amazing day of getting things accomplished; a day of loving with family; or whatever you want it to be.  Me - I'm taking it hour by hour.  Friends, and then hopefully get some things done. Will see!

Blessings!
