I brought up this blog just now and re-read the first paragraph .... and scratched my head as to 'what'? It appears I thought ahead of my fingers but the words didn't make it to the blog. Oh well. If you could read between the lines - good for you! If not - it probably wasn't important anyway, right? I have a headache this morning and I'm not sure why. Didn't sleep that well, but still. Could it be the 'sugar rush' I may have had before going to bed?
We went to group last night and our host had sliders that were absolutely delicious - and had made this awesomely delicious dessert made of peanut butter and chocolate and cookie dough - I think - I simply must get the recipe! Or not. She sent some home with me. I think I will take them to Morgan tonight - that is, if there are any left. Honestly, she didn't give us that many - but I ate three total last night - they are that good! I asked for the recipe for the sliders - and she verbally told me - like I could remember! Maybe I should just experiment? But then, when would I fix them? We also decided to skip the month of March to meet as our leaders are going to Disneyland next week and Hawaii the following week, and another couple were having family in for ten days. So actually April 1st is our next group - and we will be meeting here. I have time to figure out what to fix for them. Maybe I can find a unique snack or two.
We had a good conversation at group last night and I admit, when someone asked me if I was ever going to retire, it started a whole conversation that I spoke way more than I should have. I said I was thinking about towards the end of November, that hubby had finally gave me 'permission' to retire. And then I went on about how I had 'lost it' one day before he finally agreed. He turns to our host and I overheard him say "I sat down and figured out that we could make it without her salary." I didn't comment on that statement, but anyway, I said too much and I'm embarrassed that I did. I try to pretty much keep most of the personal stuff personal - but I had a listening audience of two couples and I was asked the question. But what is said in the bubble is out there so I may as well just move on with life, right? Can't go back and pull it out of the bubble. I could tell hubby was peeved. When we were getting in the car he was making snide comments - and when we got in the car he goes "So you have decided to retire in November?" Like I hadn't already told him. We didn't speak the rest of the way home. It was a bit tense, so perhaps that is why I didn't sleep well, and woke up with a headache.
My daughter text'd last night that they are coming into town this weekend. Looks like they are driving back on Friday - and will stay at a hotel because they don't know what time they will get in. Saturday evening they asked to stay here - which is fine. I just need to clear off the bed. I'm sure they will spend most of Saturday with their daughter and granddaughter - which is fine. They plan to head back on Sunday morning.
Today my oldest son goes to the liver specialist to get an update on his status. I will not give up praying for a miracle, but the miracle is in God's hands to provide. He may use doctors, He may 'just do it Himself' - but I pray for complete restoration of the liver and healing. Hopefully, he will be able to share information either later today or within the next day or so. I'm sure he has a lot to process when he goes and just wants to be alone with his thoughts at times. I would be, anyway.
Isaiah 43:18, 19: "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland."
That is a scripture I have on a bookmark and I think I have probably have had it 15-20 years. I still use it. And, I still read it frequently. Especially the first part, I keep telling it to myself. "Forget the former tings; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!" But sometimes it is hard to forget the 'past', isn't it? Especially when you have been hurt by words or actions. But when those old thoughts come to mind, they aren't brought to your mind by God, they are brought to your mind by Satan. Satan wants to remind you of how bad you have been, the things you have done. And some of us have done plenty! Satan wants us to feel unworthy of God's love. The devil brings to mind words spoken to you, words that hurt you, that crush you, that destroy you. Yeah, he does both of those to me all the time, especially when I am in my alone time with God. The devil wants to remind me how bad I am, or how others have treated me or spoken to me. The devil wants to remind me, as he reminds you, of things in the past that we can not undo.
But Jesus. The devil may be the accuser, and will tell us how bad we are. But Jesus tells us that His blood covers us and that none of our past is on us. Jesus' blood cleanses us from all our sins. His Word says so.
I John 1:9 (NKJV): If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
When we confess our past, and ask forgiveness, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will cover us with His blood, will forgive us, and cleanse us, and clothe us in His righteousness. Some days that is all that I can hang on to in order to keep going. The devil will use people, will use circumstances, will use whatever he can to tear us down and make us feel worthless and unworthy. But God says, we ARE worthy to be saved. And God has the final Word. Read the last book in the Bible - Revelation. See what will happen to those who do not turn to Jesus.
It's interesting how people will shy away from reading the book of Revelation. I think I always stayed away from reading it until about 10 years ago when I started reading the Bible all the way through each year. I'd read all BUT Revelation. I didn't want to read what would happen. But when I did read it, I read in Revelation 1:3 that those who read Revelation will be blessed! So yeah, I always make reading Revelation a part of my year, even doing studies on it. I want to be blessed!
And the Lord knows I could use a lot of blessing in my life. In more ways than one! I want a relationship with Him like Corrie Ten Boom. Remember her? If not, google her. She could sit in a group and be sharing her time in captivity, and she would pause and look up, and respond with a 'Yes, Lord', and continue on because God will share something with her. I want that relationship with Him that He speaks to me in ways that I don't expect. And He does at times, but oftentimes I wonder if I am really listening. I know He has spoken to me in the past; I've heard Him. But life has gotten in the way and drowned out His voice. I am seeking Him sincerely and deeply to once again hear His voice speak to me. It is one of the greatest things to hear. And when you hear Him, you know it is His voice.
And with that - need to get off here and get ready for work. 'Another day int he land of Oz' as they say. I wasn't too busy yesterday afternoon - but then, I didn't do some of the work I really need to get done. I should focus on it today and 'just do it'. Sigh. I need to push my 'I don't want to do it' out of the way and 'just do it', huh! Anyway - hope you have an amazing day!
Blessings!
