Yes, I took today off work because hubby and I both have doctor appointments early afternoon (1PM; 2PM) and since I have to take off work for the afternoon, may as well take all day, right? No big plans for this morning - it's 8AM and I'm still here in my room. Still in my jammies. Writing in here. After this, though, I will get up and get dressed and start pulling things together.
Pull what together? I had told the doctor's office that I would bring goodies at Christmas time- and I did not. With all that went on in December - I didn't do much baking - and that's ok. So I pulled the bread I had left in the freezer out yesterday afternoon. I'll check this morning to see if it still tastes ok - I tried one yesterday and was afraid there was freezer burn as it has been a few months. I made some chocolate chip cookies. I baked brownies which I'm not sure what to do with. Again, it may be me and my taste buds. I went to Sam's Club yesterday to pick up cooking/baking oil. Now I was very disappointed they did not have Crisco. And I noticed a lot of other things - they are pushing their own brand - Members Mark - in more areas. And, all they had were two 4 qt containers of oil under their brand. No smaller ones. I went ahead and purchased. Reluctantly. I made the brownies with the required 1/2 cup of oil. When I tasted one, all I could taste was the oil (because I knew it wasn't Crisco?) but hubby ate one and said it was fine. So I bagged up what I made and it is ready for the doctor's basket. I may stop at the store today and pick up Crisco. I have always used Crisco, for everything I needed oil in, and I read somewhere that Crisco is the best because it doesn't leave a taste. So, yeah, I will get Crisco. Not sure what I'm going to do with what I have left of the two containers. Anyone want them? You could use them for deep frying, I would guess - but I don't do that.
Anyway - I didn't do that much baking yesterday - just the brownies and the cookies - and I made the no-bake chocolate bars that are so very good. I will cut those up this morning and put in bags to give with the other items. I thought I had a basket, but it looks like they are all gone so will pull out a couple Christmas bags and put in there.
The doctor's visits today are just a three month follow-up to check meds. At least it is that for me. Dr. Mark thought my Levothyroxine is too high so wanted to double check. No reason, but I hope he lowers it. Perhaps it is because I feel I'm getting older if they have to increase my meds. Make sense? LOL I don't take that many meds, but I'm also a bit nervous he may put me on BP meds. I can't get my BP down lately again. I know he will say the 'bare minimum' - like I do for my cholesterol - it's 10mg and seems to do the trick - my cholesterol was at 147. My T4, free was in the red - which I think means my Levothyroxine is too high - so will see what he does. If I need BP meds, that is one thing, but I dread any side-effects, and I've heard too much about those. I'm hoping I can talk him out of it - if it should come up. I like 'bragging' I only take a cholesterol and thyroid pill. Makes my sister upset. LOL She takes BP and several others. I don't like side effects so will do what I can to keep from taking pills.
I don't know what is going on outside but I keep hearing a lot of equipment moving. Probably tearing up roads - seems like that is what is going on everywhere anymore. Huh. Ok, I opened the shutters. There is equipment on the community yard behind the houses in the next block. I don't think they are mowing - I wonder if they are going to put rock back there. No, I didn't get up to see if the ground was being dug up. Maybe they are just doing the landscaping. I wish OUR landscapers would do something productive instead of just letting the grass die. AHA! I got up to look - and they are digging up somewhere in the back of the next block. Now I'm really curious. How can an HOA just allow one person to dig.... I'm getting nosey now. Ah - they must be digging up hedges as it just came back through with either hedges or a tree in its front loader!
My distractions are all over the place this morning. I slept until about 5:15AM and I guess I needed that extra hour. I'm feeling myself getting itchy - if you know what I mean. I want to get up and do something - but I don't know what I want to do. If I fix breakfast I hear this "I didn't expect you to cook breakfast" from hubby. Geez. Just because it isn't Saturday doesn't mean I can't cook breakfast if I want to. But I may not want to. Maybe I'll just fix a bowl of cereal - although I have some things to cook for breakfast. I need to get over myself too. Right?
Ok - I'm not pulling up anything to write about this morning. I need to get dressed and maybe get something accomplished since I'm not working today. I certainly didn't get much done this weekend. Hubby did watch the superbowl while I baked. We did watch the All American Halftime show. Honestly, I was disappointed. It was hard to understand the words at times and I didn't know any of the artists. Not to say they weren't good. They needed a George Strait in that lineup!
There they go with a tree! What are they doing in that back area? Now I'm really nosey! Don't know how I can find out though - guess I'll see when they get it done!
And with that- I'm off here. I need to calm down and get some things done. Hopefully I can do it without questions and interruptions. Sigh.
Hope your day is amazing and you accomplish all that you desire. Til tomorrow... maybe I will have something to share.
Blessings!
