It was an expected, yet unexpected, surprise!

I knew I had a package coming.  I had been told that a few days ago by my oldest son.  But, I had no idea as to what.  My imagination kept trying to think what it could be.  He had said within two weeks.  But, yesterday, Fed Ex dropped off a package at our front door, but not from where my son had said it would be from.  I was puzzled.  I wasn't sure.... since I had ordered something recently (my elevated garden bed) from Sam's Club, I began to wonder if I had added this and had forgotten I had.  I went back to check my checkbook.  No, I had not ordered anythng else as the deduction was what the garden bed was.  Puzzled, still, but pretty sure it was it, I text'd my son and asked.  He responded "that was it".  Oh - what did I get?  A box of Peet's Coffee.  I absolutely LOVE Peet's Coffee!!  It's a dark roast and it actually has taste.

I made myself a cup yesterday afternoon just to have the smell in the house and get to taste good coffee.  And hubby informs me that he also likes dark roast coffee.  (wide eyed look here)  And he fixed himself a cup of coffee.  (note to son:  buy a box of coffee for Christmas gift)  I turned to him and said "you have never liked dark roast coffee, which is why we always had to buy the medium roast for you."  "Oh no", he says, "I like dark roast; it's just I like Hazelnut coffee too, which is medium roast."   Ok - we have been married almost 40 years and, although he has drank dark roast when that is all we had, his preference was always the medium roast.  I specifically gave up my dark roast many times so that he could have his medium roast and be happy.  SMH  I really do appreciate the coffee - especially this morning as I woke up at nearly 3AM.  I didn't want to get up and tried to go back to sleep, but had a headache brewing (what is it that I am getting these headaches daily the past week or so?) so finally got up around 3:30AM.  When hubby brought in my coffee about 4:30AM when he got up, I was very happy (I'm not 'allowed' to get my own coffee in the mornings... you know the Biblical 'mandate' of 'HeBrews', as hubby likes to tell everyone).  sigh.

Anyway, the strong coffee has helped alleviate the pain in the head, which is a good thing.  And I am thankful, and grateful.  It's just a dull ache now, and the strong caffeine helps a lot.  And I am happy.

We finally got the soil to finish up the pots on the side of the house and the last two bushes planted.  Took off during a 'lunch break' yesterday and headed over to Sam's Club.  I really like this one near us - since they have something called scan and go on their app, I really like going there.  It isn't that crowded as most people prefer going to Costco which is down the road about a half mile further.  Costco is always packed, no matter what time of day you go.  I didn't renew our membership there because it is too crowded for me and the standing in line is a pain.  But Sam's Club, with the scan and go - as you put items in your cart, you scan it with the app.  When you are finished, you 'check out' and it gives you a barcode.  You go to the door and show the barcode (skipping the standing in line and that process), they scan 2-5 items, check the number of items, scan the bar code, and out the door you go.  I love it.  I feel more like I am in control of my time there.  I can go in and get what I need, and scanning it on the app, it's paid for (my card is in the app for payment) and out I go.

It was sort of nice to awaken a bit earlier this morning and come in here.  I remembered that I wanted to take extra time to just be quiet and listen, and I was able to do that.  I don't know how long I sat here (I don't think I fell asleep!), but it was nice to just be quiet.  I even left the light off (after all, I had closed my eyes) so that I wasn't distracted by things around me.  Things I need to put away, or things I need to do.  It was nice, quiet, and I was able to focus on Jesus and His goodness to me.  His mercies are new every morning; great is His faithfulness.

I love that in Lamentations 3:21-24 (NKJV) "This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope.  Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not.  They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.  "The Lord is my portion", says my soul, "Therefore, I hope in Him!"

I can have hope every morning because the Lord is merciful and just.  No matter what, His compassion for me never fails.  Every morning I can face Him, knowing that He forgives and loves and accepts me just as I am.

And you, too, can have that Hope.  Because He also loves you, and He forgives you, and He accepts you, just as you are.

What a joy it is to know that we are so loved, so forgiven, and so accepted.

Rejoice!
