and here it is Wednesday....already

Actually, I've been messing up on my days this week.  I think it had something to do with an email and the way one of my bosses had worded it, but yesterday I was thinking it was Wednesday and then got confused over what day it really was.  It took a few minutes - and some date corrections in my log - for me to figure out I did NOT lose Tuesday, it WAS Tuesday.  Oh the dangers of getting older, right?  Although there are other people who get confused what day it is because they don't work and every day is the same - or we all often get to thinking that 'today is Friday', right?  But all we are wishing for is that our lives and time fly by.

My cousin in Tennessee called me last night.  I do not recall ever 'meeting' him as we found out last night he is 6 years younger than I am.  And I, after leaving home, did not go back to Tennessee that often, and now I haven't been back there since 1982.  A lot of things have changed, that's for sure.  My youngest had stopped by to see him and my cousin called me afterwards.  How did he get my number?  He had called my little sister earlier in the day asking her, "S.... is coming over today, anything I need to set him straight on?"  LOL  My sister told him that he wasn't hers!  He was mine (and yes, I claim him, in spite of everything) and she gave our cousin my telephone number.  We talked about 27 minutes before I finally cut him off as I was already at my daughter's for the evening.  Just nonsense talking. Telling me about his years in the army. His children, whom I have never met.  His parents, whom I dearly loved.  His dad was my dad's brother.   It was good to touch base with family, though.  I hope he calls again, even though I have no clue what we would talk about.

My youngest made it to Indianapolis last night and will be in that area for three days.  He has a lot of running around to do, but I bet he will want to leave before Friday, but he has made a commitment for Friday night with my oldest brother to see and they are doing a cookout, so hope he goes.  I want all my children to know my siblings.  My youngest called last night and caught me up on their travels.

Which reminds me.  Today marks year three my oldest sister passed away.  I really do miss her.  I miss our phone calls.  And yes, her son is still free and living in a motel.  I am convinced he did what is suspected, but until he confesses, there is nothing anyone can do.  I think his plans backfired on him; he lost free food and free rent.  Enough of that.  I just miss her.  She was different, but we laughed together.  I'm glad she isn't suffering any longer.  She had rheumatoid arthritis which caused her hands to cripple and was in a lot of pain, and she also had cancer on the stomach.  But still, she had years left.  And I will leave that there.

My oldest son cracked me up over his reaction to my drinking iced coffee, and loving it.  I didn't know his wife drank iced coffee.  In talking about it to my little sister yesterday, she said she liked iced coffee.  Say what?  We've talked for years and I had no clue and nothing had ever been said?  And in talking to my daughter about it last night - she also likes iced coffee!  I had no idea.  No one ever told me these things and no one ever offered me any to try?  Geez!  I've learned the past few days to just drink it in early afternoon.  I do go to bed early so cannot drink it in the late afternoon or evening - I'd be awake all night!  I think what I have is called 'protein coffee'; it has 10g of protein in it. It's Hazelnut flavor (want to try to caramel), but it also has 105g of caffeine in it.  Yeah, early afternoon it is.  And I enjoy it.  Hubby has gotten to where if I fix it for myself, he will go fix himself one.  Does it help him? I haven't determined that yet.

I have found that lately I have been on Facebook way too much for my own good.  I may have mentioned before that I have been enjoying watching some people doing strenuous core workouts to music.  Men and women are now doing it.  I am fascinated by it.  I love watching them move to the beat of the music.  But, alas, I do waste a lot of time doing it.  So today I am going to 'try' to not even open Facebook up; take a break from Facebook.  It's usually nonsense anyway, right?  I say I have it only to see what my family is up to - and I may continue to check their posts if any, but, I simply must stop the scrolling as I waste too much of my precious time.  Do you find yourself doing that too?  I managed to stop Instagram scrolling many months ago.  But now I feel I'm scrolling too much on Facebook so I need to stop myself on that one - at least for awhile.   Fast from Facebook, if you will, but I still want to see what my children post, and wish others happy birthday as they pop up.

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV):  Be still, and know that I am God.  I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth!

As I have shared many times, the first part of this verse is one of my favorites.  Be still, and know that I am God.   How often, if ever, have you paused your life long enough to 'be still' and think about all that God has done for you.  All the things that He has given you.  God is so good, that even in the times we sin and turn from Him, He is still with you, although He cannot look upon sin.  Does that make sense?  Even when you sin, someone has prayed for you, and although God can't look upon sin because He is Holy, He won't walk away from you, but waits for you to repent and turn away from that sin and follow Him.

I want to get one of those t-shirts that says "I only have one thing to do today - Follow Jesus."  Actually, I don't NEED the t-shirt.  I'm trying to weed out some older t-shirts - you know, the ones stained and spotted and that I've hung on to because someone special gave it to me.  Yeah, you know you do it too.  Someone in your life gave a t-shirt to you and you just can't let it go, in spite of it's condition, because this special person gave it to you.  Yeah, I have a lot of those.  And it's time.  It doesn't take them away from me, and the memory of that t-shirt will be with me always.  I don't need to have a faded and possibly stained t-shirt to remind me of them.  But we all have them, and we all do it, right?

I met a woman a few months ago who takes t-shirts in any condition and she (I may have mentioned this when I met her) and a group she is in, cuts them up (even if they are torn or stained), and crochets them into ropes to be sent in packages to other countries.  You know which t-shirts I'm talking about - the ones we really need to throw away, right?  Maybe you ought to go through your stack of t-shirts and look at the ones you haven't worn for a few years because they are 'old' and 'faded' and 'torn'.  I don't know the lady, but I know someone who can get in touch with her.

Anyway - my thoughts are starting to ramble and my coffee cup is empty.  I think this may be a two-cup morning.  Yes, I overslept again - it was 4:50AM when I woke up.  I'm getting in the 'habit' of shutting my alarm off.  Got to stop doing that - but then, we did go to bed about an hour later last night.  It is what it is, right?

Gotta go and get the work computer turned on.  I really do need to get those minutes done today.  Stay tuned.  Have an amazing day - do something kind for someone.

Blessings!
